Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

They also brought a hero home.

Pruitt doesn't have a clue where he is.
But Atlanta Vol and Beaver said we'd get Gruden. That counts for something right? And we hired Fulmer as AD.. which is realistically as close as we can get to "Bringing a hero home".

Agreed. I was there and I think his comment was out of line. Don’t insult the fan base, especially after the crap we’ve been subjected to. He needs to shut his mouth.

We've been subjected to the same thing every fan base has. We are in a down turn. Be ok.

I mean if we wanna nitpick, he did say that there were some fans who couldn't be here for legitimate reasons and maybe that's you.

I'm not sure why you're getting hurt about the the SOME fans who should've been here and wasn't part.

Unless subconsciously you knew you could've been here and didn't show up. I'm starting to think you may not actually be mad a Pruitt, but mad at yourself for not showing up? Other wise, why would you be mad?

Here's the quote again for reference: “Our fans today were like our football team. Some were here and doing great, some weren’t here for legitimate reasons, and some should have been here and weren’t. That sounds just like our team.”

Whoa... got a little deep there

I guess I like the attitude of CJP. He’s going to have to realize he will need to pull 1-2 very big wins this year before anybody takes it serious though.

6-6 is where we are right now. If he beats any of Bama, UGA, UF, or AU with this squad then we know for a fact we have the guy we need.

This is what I think CJP was talking about . I also believe there’s going to be a learning curb , if we want to compete against Georgia and Alabama . When you look at those two teams the word “ soft” or “underdeveloped “ does not come to mind .

I’m sorry, did you just say “learning curb”

I welcome the brutal honesty over the carnival barker that we had previously. Proclaiming championships for anything possible.

Pruitt doesn't have a clue where he is.

They brought a Nebraska player back home and they are trying to do the same thing we are . I was there during CTO and like us they have been trying to get back to those days like CPF here . I think CJP knows where he’s at I also think all the coaches know we were “ soft” last year and underdeveloped .

No reason there weren’t more fans there. He should be pissed

Who's to say whether there should have been more fans there? This team won 4 games last year, and will probably only get to that number again this year. Its basic economics: put a good product out there, and people will consume it. Nobody is under any obligation to do anything in regards to this team until they are a good product. Also, its a glorified practice that doesn't mean anything. Why watch something useless?

I'm in Nashville. Finally got a nice Spring weekend that I'm not knotted up with business. I could've driven over and brought a few seat fillers with me. If we'd hired Gruden, I would've been there and would've expected to pay for the privilege. If we'd hired Leach, I'd make the drive for a freebie event. To watch Pruitt, they would've had to pay me at least a weeks salary. Let me know when the coaching search is back on.

Well just like he hasn't proven anything to us, we haven't prove anything to him.

This is a guy who comes from championships. So I like that he expects the best from everyone, even the fanbase who let's be honest, aren't people who get challenged often.

So it'll be a minute before we get to show him who we are, but make no mistake, we will!

I agree with Jeremy. I was shocked there wasn't 100k there. This is Tennessee, not Clemson, not Oregon, not Auburn, not FSU. We should be embarrassed. Finally a coach that is similar to myself and not afraid.

And some of us see a way out of this hole we are in and realize that after last season we need a shock to the system to change things up and I think we have the guy to do that.

You talk as if we the fans somehow were part of the problem when the complete opposite has been true for 10 years. Tennessee fans have ALWAYS done their part! I get why Pruitt would call out the players but we don't deserve it. Top 5 attended spring game in the nation...after the worst season in program HISTORY! Yeah, shame on us (rolls eyes).

If this is true then Pruitt can absolutely suck it! To be top 3 in the SEC in attendance and top 5 nationally after coming off the worst season in program history and a complete clown show of a coaching search, I'm damn proud of our turnout today! Honestly Pruitt, get a clue!

More than a million people live in the Knoxville area alone. No excuse as to why 102,455 couldn't show

It should have been a record attendance praising God that Butch is gone

oh I see so now suddenly its 102,000 or the fans disappointed? Give me a break. There has NEVER been 102,000 at a spring game...ever. Why was that suddenly the expectation THIS year? Because Pruitt said so?

I'm thinking this applies to pretty much all of the people who are butthurt about Pruitt's comments.
