Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

That's because you know how sensitive everyone is, he doesn't. I'm sure he thought we could handle it.

Guess he knows now. Maybe he'll start adding a few "is that okay sweeties"? at the end of his comments.

I wish he would. I can't handle the stress this is creating.

So in your world disagreeing with what someone said is whinning? Interesting take.

Its not the fact that we disagree that equates to whining, its the aggressive rate in which you have posted in this thread your viewpoint on the situation, and disbelief that anyone can have a different point of view. I'm OK with the fact that you didn't like Pruitt's comment. I can see that it has affected you on a deep level, and I truly hope you'll be alright.

**Equally interesting that in your world disagreeing with you means you are a coach worshiper :hi:

Yea, clearly he’s more worried about the fans....

All those Spring Practices were just for sh*t & giggles. :/

No one said he's more worried about the fans. What posters are saying is that he doesn't need to worry about the fans. I agree 100%

Whatever happened to sound reasoning skills?

I've got a mother that's 75 with a fractured T11 and a fractured L5 I'm taking care of. Wonder if that would be a good enough reason not to go last Saturday for Pruitt?

Not even gonna answer that.

Sorry to hear about your mom. Best wishes to her, and you. Spend as much time with her as you can. I miss mine.

Aww heck, I'll answer it.

I think the answer is simple: if your life situation makes it so you don't think the coach was talking to you, he probably wasn't talking to you.

-- Live 5 hours away? He probably wasn't talking to you.

-- Going to your kids' ball games? He wasn't talking to you.

-- Caring for an infirm or ill loved one? He certainly wasn't talking to you.

And so on.

Don't forget, he put Vols fans into three categories, not two. Those who showed up, who he thanked. Those who had legitimate reasons for not showing, who he understood. And those who failed to show up without a legitimate reason to skip, who he questioned.

He intentionally didn't (and likely never will) define "legitimate" himself, because he knows each one of us can define it just fine without his help.

Bottom line is, those who are feeling guilty or defensive or put-out right now, those are probably more or less the folks CJP would put in category #3...because they're putting themselves there.

And a handful of them are really moaning a lot about it on these boards, heh.

Ome of the biggest red flags about Pruitt is that he is a hothead that shoots his mouth off a lot. I thought becoming a HC might humble him. Hopefullt the guy doesnt think he's actually Saban just because he's coached with him awhile. He's done absolutely nothing as a HC yet, obviously.

This was my only concern when he was hired. Hopefully Phil can help him with this, but Pruitt strikes me as the type that doesn't listen to many people. Reference his days on Mark Richt's staff.

Well there's others that want to see a coach winning before they buy all in which is what alot of fans did for the last two coaches. He wins, the stadium will be full.

Yea I'm just messing with you behr. Hadn't been on here much since December. Hope all is well with your family also.

Judging from pictures posted here it looked like a solid effort by the fans. It was a gorgeous day, and there are many great ways to spend a Saturday around here. I don't quite get the reason for his ire. I am quite positive that his pre-game remarks didn't cause one single fan to change plans, so I also conclude that nobody's feelings were hurt by what he chose to interject concerning attendance. Maybe he knew it would generate massive interest on the Internet.

So...take a big stretch here...was Pruitt referring to YOU? We’re being honest here.

Maybe if he'd have gotten Ludacris to play some songs at the game he could have had a bigger turnout.

Butchna, I'm having fun with behr. I could give a ratz azz what Pruitt said.

If he wanted more there he should have let young kids be able to get things signed by the players.

One things for sure, if he's worrying about the fans and only been a head coach 3 months he's got alot of eye opening moments coming his way, especially coaching football at Tennessee.

So the mother thing is part of the comedy routine...gotcha. Guess I had to be there. :eek:k:

My problem is that he apparently doesn't view that it is his job to inspire the players and the fans to be excited about Tennessee football. He would rather "blame" them instead of himself and the other coaches.

If Jones had said something like that - many on here would have been all over him.

I thought players quit on the coach??. Just last year that was a reason to bash Jones and the other coaches. Now it is reason to praise Pruitt.

Hopes he wins some games ... if not this will get very ugly mid-season.

It's not what you do but what you say that counts around here. 80 pages and 1197 comments about one comment by the coach has absolutely buried everything that was done this spring practise.

When did you decide he doesn’t view it as his job to inspire players ? Have you ever had a tough coach ? They are known for patting you on your little head and gushing over the time you made a tackle after being taught how to since pop warner . I believe it has been talked about from high school coaches up to ESPN how underdeveloped our players were and thinking this might just be one reason why no matter what jones said he wasn’t pulling himself out of the hole that was dug and why fans just saw what was obvious .
