Pruitt not happy with Spring Game attendance

Yeah Pruitt, take a look at those numbers. The fans buying the tickets that pays your largely undeserved salary are really lame, huh. Dude, you are not getting off on the right foot here.

F'ck'ng A....

again, yet another person who misinterpreted Pruitt's quote.

Well it's mainly just a handful of people who were offended who are still *****ing.

And me, f'ck'ng with them because they're so easily offended :)

I don't even think they're really offended. Check the post histories, they've been complaining the whole time, this is just an excuse.

Those tickets were free, and do we want to be the top school or just top 5? He pushes for excellence get on board or go cheer for vandy.

Charger!

Good to see you, man. I was telling Behr the other day, you were the one person I hadn't seen around since I got back.

I'm glad to see you apparently got over that bad genital herpes outbreak you were suffering.

Just kidding. Maybe.

:hi:

I haven't complained any about Pruitt. Seems like we are getting back on track.

I just don't think he needed to remind our fan base about support. The one who Oregon fans said showed up the most. The one who routinely sells out their allotment to away games. The one who nearly sold out 102k to LSU for an interim coach. The one who redirected a coaching search. We don't need to be reminded about a spring game, especially when the crowd was different than the last 20 years.

All of that in the past doesn't change the fact that there were two teams with higher attendance and they are where we want to be, it's very simple, want to be the best, act like it.

It was a one-liner and you specifically have probably b'tch'd more than 20 times in this thread.

overblown much?

Nah, I am stuck in a hotel killing time, waiting on a ride to lunch. Nothing else to do.

Want to just speculate on everything?

What we are seeing right now with the fans on this board is exactly what Pruitt was talking about with the team, some expect soft hands just because we are Tennessee, well that's not what championship teams do, so we will do what champions do, compete and work harder to show up better than the opponent.

I don't get riled up about numbers at spring games. Many variables go into it. Check back when the game means something.

Sorry, wasn't even thinking about you.

2 of the 4 that have complained the most are habitual contrarian blowhards and the other 2 have been butthurt over the way "Jones was treated" for WAY too long.

Calling out fans who should have been there but weren’t. How do you misinterpret that? It was just a dumb thing to say for a coach that should count his lucky stars to even be here.

Hopefully, one day, our fanbase will realize that the best ambassador for the University of Tennessee program is a football team that kicks other people’s asses.

Who cares? Fans around here are soft. I like the tough demeanor. I wasn't there and I could have been.. I'm not butthurt over his comments. And if he brings results, he could say that our fans poop rainbows from fluffy clouds for all I care.

Charger, I enjoy your posts. I was just responding to it because someone else has taken affinity to my posts. I don't post much over in this forum but had some time to kill.

The ironic thing is that I am a positive fan. I like Pruitt as a coach. I wasn't offended- I just didn't think he needed to make that statement. You can see what kind of controversy it created. Our fans will show up, especially if you do your job. They have shown up when some coaches weren't doing their job. It's pretty simple.

If this is true then Pruitt can absolutely suck it! To be top 3 in the SEC in attendance and top 5 nationally after coming off the worst season in program history and a complete clown show of a coaching search, I'm damn proud of our turnout today! Honestly Pruitt, get a clue!

I agree, CJP needs to chill out with the fans. He won’t win them over unless he respects them and what they have done over the years.

He should have waited before calling out the fans, IMO. Feels more like complaining to me. He has giving us very little on the team through his silence and what he has given has been mostly negative. I understand this might be the truth, but it is not a way to pull in fans.

Yeah, it wasn't necessary, he'll figure that out.
Just that faux outrage by some though, lol.

Do both it and the weight-lifting part. Then, as the tie-breaker, you could have a hotdog eating competition. Best 2 out of 3.

Lol, he told me i could pick the event. Internet tough guys are all the same and anyone that takes an anonymous message on the internet personally has some issues. Plus he seems confused because later in the thread he challenged himself to a bench press.

Lol, im good with my manhood mam, nothing to prove. Old 20+ years in the Marines, those days are over for me.

There's plenty enough people around Knoxville, don't have to drive far and not working, to have had a better crowd for a free event.

We want the players to work harder and "give their all" but many complain that it's too much effort to tailgate and hang out with some fellow fans for a few hours. A good list of recruits there today and wanted them to feel the environment.

But apparently it's justified because Butch went 4-8 last year.
Ref. statement on "people around Knoxville"....

As there are a lot of college towns or baseball towns or any other sports team's towns.
In those towns there are many more people who don't give a damn about a particular sport (many more than do) or the "home town team" and never even look at scores. They cuss the traffic caused on game days, wonder what a winning celebration is all about.
As I stated earlier in another thread, I flipped to the Bama game some. Their "huge" crowd was not that much "huger" than ours or many others.
