Pruitt must prove it

Pruitt's future will depend on offensive production.
I have total confidence that Pruitt will have well prepared and coached defenses.
I'm not sold on Helton. Pruitt needs someone he can totally trust with the offense. Even Bama isn't Bama anymore. They've really opened up their offense. and aren't just banging four running backs at you for four quarters until you cry mercy. They use zone read, RPOs and every other

UT has literally tried to line up and power run, which has had embarrassing results. That has led to a defense that is on the field way too much. The personnel doesn't fit what they've been trying to do. It took them five games to find Chander in his zone.

It's funny to me that everyone on the board hated Debord when he was running up 400+ yards of offense a game. It makes me wonder if there has EVER been an offensive play caller that the fans agreed with.

The FACT that we could not get anyone to take the job due to the administration officers at UT weighs heavily on what CJP must prove or not prove. He has a 20 million dollar contract with a huge buy out so fans beating their chests about what he must do seem like the 2 fleas arguing about who owns the dog.
With this I agree. Pruitt will get all the time he needs, which will be way beyond the expectations and perhaps the desires of many who post on this site. The UT administration realizes that the constant coaching carousel must stop.

I have never coached football at any level, but it seems to me that you have to install your system and then recruit the players you need to it. If the team tries to run a different system to fit the current personnel, what kind of recruits do you attract? Not the ones that you want to run your system. So, you make the team a prisoner of the prior coaches recruits and abilities. Or, you do recruit players to run your system, but then try to shoehorn them into a different scheme. It's not like you can turn your entire roster in one or two seasons like the NFL. Better to me to go ahead and install the system you believe in and are most knowledgeable about, and recruit the players to play in that system. Yes, it will take several recruiting classes for this to show results. I think Pruitt will get plenty of time to try to accomplish this. More time than many on this board would think possible.

This 100%.

When Kiffin was here he cut corners and fit gameplans around the players he had to play to the fans and media and buy time for himself. Many on this board bought it.

OTOH Pruitt is doing a whole new install and is recruiting the pieces he needs to fit. It’s a much tougher job with greater short-term pain but far higher upside. Takes a lot of guts confidence and skill. A little luck along the way wouldn’t hurt either.

It’s the Saban model only w/o the skilled hand of the HC grandmaster to implement it.

Question is will the media and fans get it and hold on long enough for Pruitt to rebuild? From the looks of this board it could be close.

IMHO Pruitt must find a way split the difference THIS SEASON and be legit competitive vs Auburn SC KY Mizzou to quiet the fanatics. And he/we absolutely cannot lose to Vandy in order to get the buy in he needs (but may not fully appreciate yet idk) from the retail crowd to buy the goodwill he needs.

I’m drawing a line in the sand and saying Vandy is a MUST WIN. And we cannot lose to KY by 26 points or worse.

I agree with everything. And not calling you out...

...but UGH, your last 2 statements.

I hadn’t thought about this before; when a team is really bad, it’s a lot easier to show improvement. Oddly enough, Jones showed a ton of improvement and also got the team this bad. Same guy.

Could part of it be playing the #2 ranked team in the country? Everyone else playing them is also getting blown up. Perhaps this team at its best, after its best practice ever, is still not going to beat GA? Not with the talent we have, at least.
I should've been more specific, I was talking about every game we've played.

Herman was 7-6 in his first year at texas...

Self important...lol

What do any of those coaches have to do with ut or are you just trying to be self important? Im thought on pruitt has been consistent, he has 3 years regardless. If after 3 years ee havent seen a turn around the back door interest conversation to gauge interest should start and after 4 year if we dont see major improvement he should be gone. That major improvement doesnt necessarily come in the form of wins and losses but rather fielding a competative team.
I know disagreement with me so you can join the popularity contest is the hip thing to do and all but my view is perfectly reasonable.
The rest of my post on here are to talk about the current state and thus far, until the uga game looked like an unorganized mess. Its not my fault that any criticism of the team leads to the assumption you want the coach fired, so go bark up another tree.

Tuckman Principle is absolutely proven that it takes “time” to build a cohesive team. I’m not on here enough to worry about a popularity contest but it appears by your own admission that several posters tend to disagree with you. Sorry bud. You aren’t the center of my universe and your statement alone proves you’re full of false self importance. Really? A “popularity contest” about your posts...Um yeah. Carry on.
