Pruitt Must Go!

We will be lucky to win five or six and should be grateful this roster has holes all over it and average players and most positions that combination means not good

Biopsy I understand you are always negative about this, while our roster has a lot of duds, we still have playmakers. We were in a lot of games last year that we should have won.... (Missed field goals) (Blown coverage) (Shotgun from the 1) had some of these not of happened we would of won a few more games last year even with a depleted O-Line. So, hear me out here.... Add in better coaching and a coach who will only play those guys who give their all and it is a recipe for more success than last year. Am I saying we are going to win it all? Nope. What I am saying is we have a chance to surprise a lot of people, especially with the talent coming in the summer. So.... Stop being so doom and gloomy! Cheer up! Cheer for the Vols and hope that the coaching staff coaches the guys up and they get bigger, stronger, faster, and better before the WV game! Go Vols!

Anyone is expecting a good year in 2018 is an idiot

Depends on what you mean by a "good year." A 2-6 start is certainly possible. A 6-6 finish is also possible.

ETSU, UTEP, and Charlotte are gimmies. Kentucky, Missouri, and at Vandy are winnable games. That's bowl eligible right there, and if you finish 7-6 with a bowl game win and a good 2019 recruiting class, a lot of momentum will have been created for 2019.

I also wouldn't totally write us off against Florida or at South Carolina.

Amen! There are way too many people drinking the Kool-Aid, need to layoff and get a grip on reality. Give the new guy a couple of years to prove whether he is quality material or not. At least his picture is not on the jumbo tron so that is already one positive.

Unfortunately, Pruitt lost me when he gave Vol fans the finger for not showing up to the Spring game. That was a stupid move. Our Spring games are never full. Someone should have prepped him for that but then he put his foot in that bad grammar mouth. So, best of luck to the Vols. I will continue to throw my support to my other team and wait patiently to meet Pruitt in person and put my foot in my mouth to make us even.

You realize the talent on the roster is the bottom half in the SEC we have very few NFL prospect or different markers on the entire roster

Not if recruiting rankings mean anything we aren't. Over the last 4 recruiting classes the only teams with a higher 4 yr avg is Ala, Ga, Aub and LSU. Truthfully as bad as Butch and his staff were at developing players, we really don't know what all we have as a whole. We have depth issues on the OLine but we have 8 Olineman who were *4 or *5 on atleast one service Smith and Richmond were *5,R.Johnson, Carvin, J.Johnson, R.Locklear,Hall and Tatum were all *4. Our DLine has 11 guys who were *4 or *5 on atleast 1 service..5* Phillips, *4's Kongbo, Allen,Tuttle,Gooden,Lawless,A.Johnson,Taylor,Butler,Emerson and Crosby. 9 of our receiver's and RB's were *4 on atleast 1 svcs Chandler, Banks, Byrd,Callaway,B.Johnson,Murphy,L.Williams,Taylor and Jennings. 6 of our secondary guys were a *4 or *5..
*5 Warrior, *4's Osborne,Gray,Abernathy,Tk Jr, CFA and Bailey. We have 2 *4 QB's JG and Chryst. Shrout was as close to a *4 you could get. LB's we have 5 *4 players..DKJr, Sapphire, Ignont, Bituli and Peterson. Throw in *4 TE Anderson as well.So that's 42 players who had *4 or *5 rankings. That's not on GA,Ala,Clemson or Ohio St level but it's also not a 4-8 team type of talent. With the coaching and developing they will get now, it's easily a 7-8 win team. Yes there is depth issues at OL and the secondary but with some staying healthy luck they can be productive.

Way too much was made of that comment. Nothing wrong with expecting fans to be held by the same standard we hold the coach and players at. Kind of hypocritical to expect from them but not give in return. TN definitely doesn't need fans like you, so please go pull for your other team. Just like it's not any better when fans leave games early or show up late. The Coach's and players are expected to be there start to finish, so it should go both ways. If a spring game comment that was blown out of proportion hurt your feelings, then you need thicker skin or find a less passionate sport to watch.

I just try to look at things objectively .... I have doom and gloom since Ga last year when the team was not even competitive... I think 2020 we will turn the corner..’until then drink heavily

He will be next Bama Head Coach. To do that winning at Tennessee is mandatory.

With a good roster yes.. this one is Swiss cheese.. look at the all of positionchanges, jucosmans grad transfer.. never seem so much ever

Roster is 1 of the 15 best in the country, not on UGAs level but close enough with elite coaching to challenge them

Truthfully it wont be a miracle if they win 7 either. Some of the perceived "talent" issues are development issues. I don't know how good of a manager Pruitt is, but he knows development and his staff has a solid track record for that as well.

Time will tell.

The problem is that a junior or senior that has received virtually no development in the 2-4 years (some would have been redshirts) they have been here can’t be fully rehabilitated development-wise in one off-season. While many of those guys probably still have the same ceiling that they had when they arrived on campus, their achievement of that ceiling has been pushed years into the future beyond their timeframe at UT.

Ed, when the average VN.com participant neither knows nor cares who Scott Pruitt is, it should not surprise you that most responses will completely fail to acknowledge the right third of that cartoon (really, anything beyond the thread title).

But you probably could've predicted that. Maybe you did. You pot stirrer, you.

Nah, he's just special!
