Pruitt Monday press conference

Basically going off what Basilio said this morning and reading between the lines of what Pruitt said during his presser.
OK. But I pay little attention to "talkies" (can't get them in my area anyway). As to reading between the lines, I have never been very good at it, so I usually don't waste much effort trying to. I still wonder, other than he has not been "tried" why he is not an option on Monday morning.

That's about as obvious as you can be going after the officials without getting yourself in trouble. He's commented on the lack of "accountability" three times now. And, he took a jab at the "replay booth in Birmingham, or wherever it is."

The SEC replay booth is in Charlotte, NC believe it or not. Not really the heart of SEC country is it?

He’s a better man than I am. After that abomination of officiating that took place Saturday night, I would given those refs a tongue lashing that lasted an hour and called them everything but human. Then gone home with hat in hand and said “honey, I need you to write a check to the SEC.”

He had a play called. JG changed it. He's trying to not throw JG under the bus. read between the lines a little....

Yes. It would have benefited nobody for Coach Pruitt to say, “Our quarterback made a stupid and fatal mistake, one that cost us seven points and gave Alabama a touchdown, thus resulting in a 14-point swing and putting the game out of reach.”

If MAURER can't go this week I hope we go with Shrout, I just don't think I can deal with another week of EVERY post being about JG. No one ever says anything different but it's an instant like machine to denigrate the kid one more time..

Agreed. It was a hurry up to the line. But they had plenty of time to call a TO if needed. I wouldn't be surprised if the 4th down play was called in with the 3rd down play. If we don't get it, hurry up and run it again, try to catch them not paying attention or something like that.

Remember: he's a Bama guy himself. You can sense *just a shade* of how he feels being on the other end of the Birmingham SEC office.

Exactly. He knows how it works there b/c he was high up in Saban’s regime for so long. I don’t know if money is changing hands between Bama and the SEC or if the SEC just wants to ensure the teams in the SEC championship game don’t have more than 1 loss each, but something dirty is going on.

Pruiit also said the play call was a low sneak. The right side of the line and center blocked for that. So who knows, QB most likely messed that up but the coach should have called a TO if he hasn’t called a play yet.
There's a new thread showing a breakdown of the play. JG went rogue and blew it.

"JT, multiple choice assessment that will decide if you start this week. You just get a play call you don't like. Do you:

A. Run the play anyway because you're not getting paid to call the ****ing plays.

B. Call Timeout and go discuss with the coaches.

C. Change the play but let everyone know what the new play is.

D. Change the play, but only in your own brain so everyone else looks foolish.

There's only one wrong answer JT"

All of you screaming for JGs head just don't realize that Pruitt knows JG will be needed to help win games during the rest of the season. That could be either as a starter or back up. I will leave that up to the coaching staff, but I don't want to count on walk ons against SEC competition. JG makes mistakes as does O Linemen moving early, DBs holding or RBs fumbling. We should not be calling for the heads of kids who make mistakes whether they are QBs or Long Snappers. JG has taken viscous shots behind terrible OLs, and dumbaxx fans who hide behind keyboards and computer screens. As far as I know he has not complained about either. He is not the best but in the real world he is what we have this year. Maybe Shrout will start next week. OK. Maybe Maurer will be back. Great. But I sure hope JG will be here when and if he is needed.

CJP has changed his story from he called a sneak to we had no call so I don’t think it’s obvious but we will never get a straight answer. I’m still confused on why he didn’t call a TO. He even said that himself

It’s obvious what the play call was by watching the other 10 guys in Orange. We were lined up in the I formation with a FB and RB. An extra blocker was brought in late and lined up on the left side of the line. That blocker sealed the inside of the line. Trey pulled from his LG position and took the LB out of the play. The FB crashed the hole further sealing the inside. The hole was wide open and the RB was running towards it looking for the handoff. If JG doesn’t go rouge then the RB walks in untouched.

No one runs a QB sneak with a pulling guard. No one runs a QB sneak with a FB and RB in the backfield unless they are a triple option team.

I’m afraid they have to trust him because he will be our QB vs USCjr...I’m not happy about it. I will get behind him though because he’s the only chance we got. I’m just hoping and praying that the staff can develop a game plan that will work for him and maybe this week between film and practice he can improve a little bit. It’s a long shot but at this point it’s our only shot.

JG is NOT a play maker. Chaney is no fool, I think by now he understands what kind of game plan has to be in place for JG to be successful. IMO that is get the ball out of his hands as quickly as we can. He hands it to a play maker in ends around or straight runs by Jordan & Chandler OR hits with quick passes off of slants and in the middle of the field. TEs do not get targeted for a pass except once per half. Only DWA has chance of catching it and he's a crap shoot at this point. I believe we'll be more effective against USCe that many people think.

If he puts JG on the field this Saturday his family will get death threats, there will be boos, and the national media will talk about how classless UT fans are....as they should. The best thing UT can do for the kid is sit his ass and let him transfer. There is no more JG to protect. He’s already guilty in the eyes of the fan base. I don’t buy the coach speak angle at all. It was a cluster and he needs to own it.

So if BM can't go due to concussion protocol, you expect CJP to go into the South Carolina game with one QB? I'll hang up and listen.

Down

Down by 2 scores, you probably need the TOs. He was probably thinking worst case scenario is that we are stopped at the 1 and they would have to start on their own 1 with a back up QB.

Agree. Also, I don’t recall CJP changing his story. A few of the linemen stated afterwards they didn’t know what happened, why JG ran the sneak.
