Pruitt might not win COY

I disagree. While I’ve very happy with the defense and the intensity this team played with down the stretch...Pruitts unwillingness to have a legit qb competition and have anyone ready to play except Jg cost is significantly this year. And there are more questionable decisions as well as qb. Grey looked to be explosive from his first carry of the season yet we rarely saw him until tonight. And we were way too conservative at times. Watching bama/ua and LSU amongst other today in the conference should let us know just how far we still have to go. We should’ve absolutely boat raced vandy today. But we settled for a time of possession/mange the game style today. Good team don’t do that. Especially when playing a terrible team. We have a long ways to go. But a good start would be to have a legit qb competition this offseason. Also, get some damn recruits in the door

Please explain how there was no legit QB competition? Did you go to the practices? Do you really think the staff is going to pick a QB from competition in practice that they think isn't going to win? It makes no sense why they would do that. It's crazy talk.

As for Grey, until tonight almost every time he came in the game he got stuffed and one arm tackled. Usually it seemed for a loss.

The Ga State and BYU losses were on Pruitt and staff.
It was on everyone, players and coaches. But something was wrong and they kept working and fixed it. They've learned how to win close games and how to overcome mistakes.

The fact they lost to Georgia State makes me want to puke. But the fact that they lost to Georgia State and went on to start 1-4, and then ended up 7-5 speaks well of them. I knew they weren't going to win the SEC or anything this year, but there was a time when I thought they might end up where Arkansas is right now.

Coach O deserves Coach of the Year, hands down. If CJP keeps the program moving forward, he'll get one soon enough.

Sorry, I hate to sound like a killjoy but I'm not proud of anything. Those first two games were unforgivable and anything short of an SEC championship wasn't going to make up for that. We salvaged the season as best we could and for that I'm glad. But the word "proud" will never be uttered from my lips when describing this season.
Good thing the team and coaches moved on. They are proud and they have every right to be.

Salvaged what was headed for being the worst in program history. Have to like how he rallied the guys and the improvements they made, especially defensively as the season went along. 7 wins with a chance to win 8 is historically crap but a minor miracle this year given the early losses.

All that said, we’re still about 3 light years behind Florida. Long, long way to go before we competing for an East title, but sitting in 3rd this year is a nice improvement.

We finished with the exact W-L total I thought we would. We did not take the route I expected to get there

Happy with the turnaround, but he would have been in the COY conversation is we were 9-3. Losing the first two like that is a disqualifies.

However, heck of a coaching job to turn this thing around. A couple of players transferred, attitudes changed. I think last 7 games were a great coaching job especially on defense.

Im proud of the team for not throwing in the towel. This season couldve been a disgrace but the way it ended gives me hope.

Don't care if CJP wins coach of the year, but as far as I'm concerned there is no coach out there that I would rather have. The improvement this year has been remarkable, and especially developing talent - these are different players from what we saw at the beginning of this year, and credit for the turnaround goes to CJP but also the entire coaching staff. I also love his style - no BS old school hard nosed coaching, but still a type of coach players seem to love to play for.
No other coach? C’mon man!!

Hey guy, the team passes the eyeball test. My take is the team hadn't fully grasped the defense, and we had offensive struggles those first few games. At a certain point, the defense started playing lights out, and aside from tonight, so did JG. Also, did you see the second half statistics the last 5-6 games? Something like 21 points allowed in the second half of games for the second half of the season? Halftime adjustments! I wasn't aware a Vol coach was able to utilize those.

I know there was no legit competition because Jg won. I think jg would’ve lost “a legit competition” at a bunch of high schools. And also because Pruitt said right after the season ended last year that every position with the exception of quarterback was up for grabs. Pruitt unquestionably was influenced by the fact that Jg was a former top 25 overall recruit and a 4th year player. And while that would certainly make anyone think he’s the guy...his play in the field last year wasn’t very good. Any team that goes 5-7 should have a qb competition. Maurer is a better qb. Plain and simple. We don’t have to be there in practice because we’ve seen they way they look in games. Maurer looks to be the far better qb imo
