Pruitt keeps his job if...

How did SC afford to release WM, with a higher buyout than Pruitt?

Has UT fallen to the point of looking up to Vandy, KY and SC?
The whole UT can't afford it thing is just a well told lie to get people to be content with a mediocre team. They could fire everyone, pay all the buy outs, throw out 7 mill for a top notch coach and make more than they spent next year in ticket sells and merchandise. If they made the right hire hell the orange and white game would have 70k in the stands. Being cheap has costed the University 10x what it would have if they would just pony the money up and do it right.

Someone name a coach from the last (or any of the earlier) search that has worked out. Scott Frost, Chip Kelly, john Gruden. We keep looking for the next big thing only to be frustrated 2 or 3 years later and throw out the baby.
Maybe a novel idea, why don’t we let out HOF AD coach up our current coach. I suspect CJP has let a little air out and is ready to take a little constructive criticism.
Saban would’ve been fired at MSU, Dabo at Clemson, Beamer at VT and Johnny at ISU.
Maybe it’s time to consider the last 3 years as an investment rather than a bust.
And for those of you who want Urban, his record is to win in year 2 and maybe 3 then start a slide with a retirement in year 5, Leopards don’t change spots

So Saban, who took the job at MSU when they hadn't had a winning season in years, and they got blasted by the NCAA as he took the job, would have gotten fired for having no losing seasons there in 5 years and having their best season since 1967?

I'd take Urban for 3 years, let alone 5. And lmao at "slide". He was 82-9 at Ohio State and had 1 loss in his final season there. He's 186-32. That's General Neyland level winning.

None of those guys would succeed at UT,....and Franklin would have to personally apologize to a bunch of us in the south end zone before he could even be considered, and I don’t think he’d even consider us if we were the only job in football

You are definitely entitled to your own opinion but to say none of those guys would succeed at UT is pretty shortsighted IMO. My main wish is Matt Campbell. ANYONE who can take the absolute bottom of the pile in the Big 12 with a program like Iowa State and make them very respectable is a good coach. They've became one of my few backup teams I cheer for and I watch many of their games. I promise you this guy can coach and recruit. He's taken a God awful Iowa State program and done great things. They beat #3 Oklahoma during his second season 38-31 and #4 TCU a couple of weeks later 14-7. Barely lost to #12 Oklahoma State 49-42. This was with a bunch of 2 star players. They beat OU again this year 37-30. Campbell has proven to be able to take a bad team and make them good with a lot working against him and proven to be able to beat teams he has no right beating.

Sure, Chadwell and Napier aren't coaching at the highest level but they have both proven to be good head coaches where they are at. That's saying something I don't care what conference the team is in. Coastal has beaten everyone in their path this year and has one of the best defenses in the country. They've beaten Kansas from the Big 12 and beat Napier's ULL team 30-27. They have Appy St. this weekend in a big game then Texas State and if they get through both of those they could very well come into the game on December 5th against Hugh Freeze's Liberty squad both undefeated and both ranked around the top 10 in the country.

Sitake at BYU is doing good - and even beat Pruitt's squad last year at Neyland. BYU is 8-0 this year and they have the 9th ranked offense and 6th ranked defense in the country. They just dismantled Boise State 51-17 this past week. They have an outside shot at the playoff if things fall their way. They aren't losing to North Alabama or San Diego State to finish out the year more than likely.

So to say that "none of those guys would succeed at UT" is a head scratcher to me. They might not, but I can definitely argue they ALL give a far sight better chance at doing it than what we have now.

Boyd has a university to oversee and the football program is just a small facet in the overall scheme of running a university.

Randy Boyd is a great business man who understands just how important the football program is to the university from a financial standpoint. So, no its not a small facet. Its also worth noting that John Compton former Pepsi CEO is on the board of trustees and he also understands the financial importance of the football program. What a piss poor and frankly lazy attempt to minimize the football program

What is a semi-realistic scenario where Pruitt is fired this year? Imo it’s only if we get blown out (21+ point losses) against Auburn, UF, And a&m, while also losing to Vandy.

When it needs to happen?

AD, admin and boosters all need to nut up...... Rapidly..

He's not getting fired this year. Fulmer gave him that extension and essentially will not be willing to admit his mistake until it's time for us to show him the door again too. Next year he is coaching for both of their jobs and anything less than a trip to Atlanta should get him canned.

Yes and mess up his recruiting.hes in the top 5 almost or is.bailey transfers with others.ignorant firing a coach after 2 half seasons. As long as he's recruiting in top 5 or so.he deserves 7 years at least, but with better coordinators.but if he keeps recruiting in the top 5, and it keeps going this same way, then he gets fired 2 years from this year.

But none of that is happening at this point. The games the rest of the season are sold out to the extent that they can be and there are about 35,000 season tickets that are already paid for in 2021. The biggest players in Tennessee's 2021 class have reaffirmed their commitments. No indication they've lost the locker room.

Certainly, based on results, anything could happen after the 2021 season. But there's zero chance you see a change before then. Most people saw this as a 4-year project when Pruitt was hired coming off the worst season in UT history. Year four will be very important, but he's getting the fourth year no matter how much we piss and moan on here or on Twitter.
Then we will struggle to beat teams like Vanderbilt till at least the end of 21. The administration is okay with that? SC sure wasn't okay with it. Is SC a program that cares more about winning than us? That's pretty sad.

Dumb dumb dumb
Every word (except "and") is completely dumb

7 years? GTFO

After next season at the earliest. I doubt anyone is going to fire anyone after the "Covid" season... a universal excuse that covers just about any and everything.

The truly bad news is that there is no chance JG gets drafted... and very little chance he quits. You have to give it to the kid he never quits no matter how many times he fails. If I had to wager my paycheck today... I would say that Pruitt is on the sideline and JG is behind center come the first game of next season.
