Pruitt keeps his job if...

He doesn’t know everything but Doug Matthews is good friends with Fulmer. He said this morning on his show that Pruitt will be back next year, regardless of the outcome of this season. He was very adamant stating there has not and will not be any conversation about Pruitt being relieved as head coach.

I guess Pruitt could always leave on his own as 2020 has been a crazy year, but he will not be fired after this season.
It is easy to say that now. The situation changes if they don't get any more wins this year and AD or boosters feel the emotions of how bad the year is and the fan outrage amplifies.

Couple of things here folks:

1) USCe can afford the buyout because for the last 5 years the only coach they have been paying has been Muschamp. Spurrier had little to no money remaining on contract when he left. UT has been paying 2 HCs every year for the last 5 at least.

2) We're stuck with Pruitt for at least one more year...see number 1 above.

The first salvo comes from Columbia.

Boyd needs to go to our big money people and ask if they will pay the buyouts for a big name.
If they say yes, he gives Fulmer a list and says that Phil can contact their agents or he will.
Don't think it works that way. When it gets bad enough they will come to him. Also, Boyd has a University to run, so Football may not be first on his mind.

I love the title to this thread. OP acts as if Noyds job rides on the football program. Dude get over it. TN doesn’t care about football. Boyd isn’t going anywhere regardless of what the football program does.

It's going to be interesting to watch what happens to attendance and season tix sales in 2021 (assuming full attendance allowed). This season's team performance plus people getting out ou the habit of going to games could spell trouble for UT.
Personally, I think we're in the same boat next year as this year, if not worse. I fully expect a total lockdown shortly after New Years. The new administration's advisors are already saying we need a 6 month shutdown.. Yes, I said 6 months.. If that happens, football will be the least of a long list of major problems...

Correct, the fact that some of you are gullible enough to spend thousands on this disaster is ridiculous. They simply do not care what happens on the field as long as the money keeps flowing, and it does.

The university is relying on reserve funds just to survive the $65 million budget shortfall due to the pandemic. Pruitt isn’t getting fired this year.
No offense, but every time I see this budget shortfall number posted it seems to get bigger.....

OP, the pic on the left is the UT we remember, know, & love.

The pic on the right is what UT is now. Only the desperate or a former great needing a "slump buster" are going to touch UT.
Big girls need lovin too..... 😎

It just doesn’t work that way. You need an ad with balls. It should be him going to the bug money people amd saying if you’ll get me the finds I’ll get you the goods. Then he needs to absolutely sell the hell out to get the guy. But we don’t have that guy. We have a guy that was fired nearly 15 years ago for being too old, out of touch with the game, and too conservative. Does that sound like a guy ready to throw his nuts in a wheel barrel and go make a massive play? Yet that’s exactly what it would take for tn to get back to the top.

We're not getting rid of Pruitt unless we crash at Vandy. That might start the talk, but it's not happening I'm afraid.

That’s why we need Boyd to do it.
he’s a SouthKnoxville businessman that knows how important UT football is to Knoxville’s and East Tennessees economy.

I am by no means a Pruitt supporter. I once supported him and hoped he was the guy but he has lost me. With that said, this is ridiculous. Pruitt is not going anywhere at the moment. If, and a huge if, he is fired it won’t be until after next season. By then all of the big names we drool over will be gone and we’ll be sold another project coach from the blue light special bin and hope they become the next Saban, Urban Meyer, Dabo, etc.... while suffering through many more years of mediocre hell because we don’t have the donors that are willing to part with enough money to get a big name / sure winner. Afterwards people will blame Fulmer as if he has an open checkbook to hire anyone he’d like. And around the circle we go again.
