Pruitt isn't naming QB

It’ll be JG until Pruitt has the courage to bench him cause he’s stinking it up this year.

While JG has struggled, his performance was much better than Mauers last time out.

Check out Josh Ward.'s podcast from last week( dont remember the day) that breaks down the play of each with numbers to back up his take.

JGs biggest issue with production agaisnt UF was stupid penalties by various members of the offense. If i recall correctly the scoring drive led by Mauer was not plagued with these issues. Im fairly certain we would have scored a couple of tds had it not been for penalties putting us behind the chains multiple times.

I’m sure JG is the best practice player so he will get the start. The real question is how quickly will Cornbread be willing to pull him and try the other guys.

I’m OK if there isn’t a “definitive” starting QB right now........however within another week or two I hope someone is the sole starter (good bad or anywhere in between).

I would have hoped Tennessee would have settled on “one” by now; however given how bad it has been.........I can see it taking a while. But if a decision isn’t made and stuck with before week 7 the indecision will speak much louder than it does right now.

Give it up, dude.

You're like D4H for Maurer. I like Maurer a lot, but the annoying Maurer "homer" act isn't winning anyone over.

Maurer is a dual threat QB. He's struggled throwing the ball since he got to Tennessee and is still adjusting to college ball. Therefore, he's been scrambling more than he should.

No one is "confused" about his skill set. Dobbs had the same issues his Freshman year; the game didn't really slow down for him a bit till Year 2.

I expect things to click for Maurer eventually, but quit pretending like you're the only human being capable of evaluating Maurer's game. If you were that gifted at QB evaluation, you wouldn't be posting on here; you'd be getting paid the big bucks.[/QUOTE
Well..... that’s just it. I like talking football. Especially qbs. No one knows what I do for a living therefore it’s impossible for you to know I DONT make the “big bucks” evaluating qbs. Is there?
So I can just as easily tell you to give it up on trying to sell him as a duel threat, which he is not. He’s just got to get settled in before you realize I may know what I’m talking about after all.

And just for the record.... not trying to “win anyone over”. I’m simply stating facts against opinions.

Ummmm yes..... because of his HS tape. What else does he have as a freshman when he’s been in a spread for the last 4 years? Wouldn’t matter anyway. He would still be most effective in a spread where there’s less in the box and more dbs in coverage. He’s fast but not shifty. More effective as a passer than a runner. Extremely accurate once he learns to relax. If they get pressure on him he can hurt you with his legs.

Maybe I didn’t understand what you wrote but it sounded like you said Maurer has to be in a run heavy/ qb design system.

When Maurer is in, there are going to be more opportunities to utilize his mobility in the run game.

Shrout is going to be pass heavy and the run game will be reliant on running backs.

If you plan on going two QB system, you're not going to have two QB's in the same scheme/gameplan.

Won't matter who we start until we start playing as a TEAM. We have a broken group of athletes with poor coaching and no leadership. I'll be shocked if Georgia hasn't put this game away by halftime. Unfortunately I'm expecting a 2017 type of experience. It is what it is............but always a Vol.

An average QB would have UT at 3-1. I'm sure Bailey is better than average.
I’ll go with that. That’s true. I’m just not convinced HB is any better than what we have. Especially upon arrival. Not saying he won’t be but that would require time.

Gotcha. But why not Pro style for Shrout and spread for Maurer? Imo that gives HIM the best chance to succeed and us our best chance to win. Not that that is going to happen anyway. But you know what I mean.

It means JG is likely not the starter. UGA only knows his film over the course of two years of starting.
Yep, because the team that has gone to the playoffs as recently as 2 yrs ago will def be confused and caught off guard by our two freshmen QBs

Game changing, transcendent quarterbacks seem to be a dime a dozen nowadays. Tua, Hurts, Fromm, Nix, Fields, Lawrence, just to name a FEW. The list goes on but I’m not gonna pretend to know many more big names than that. Question is, WHY CANT WE GET ONE TO COME TO UT?? Peyton Manning’s UT? Coaches don’t have a true eye for qb talent? Players don’t want to come here? Baffling

Dobbs, Peterman, Ferguson... we get plenty. Just haven’t had one in a couple years. Bailey is on his way though 👍
