Pruitt is the real deal

He’s the real deal until his 4th or 5th loss, then he’s like all the others.

Not sure the relevance pursuant to your original post in conjunction with you 'coming across' as being nega-Pruitt.

That said, why 'allegedly' coaches turned down UT or stayed away is for one reason. They did not really know who they would be working for since Currie obviously did not have the power and respect to make his own decisions freely. Not only that, several coaches reached out to legendary coach Bill Snyder from Kansas State, whom Currie was formerly his boss...and after those calls it didn't take long for word to spread among coaches and their agents, which then caused them to distance themselves from Currie and UT.

This was not isolated to this search.

How am I nega Pruitt? Love to read your wisdom.

Don't post much, but am on here everyday . . . One thing, people are mentioning all over, "he's never been a head coach".

True, but something to also consider - he was raised by a head coach - think all those years watching his Dad will be valuable as he, all the coaches & support staff, and the players, bring this program back into national prominence.

GBO!

But couldn't the same thing be said about Derek Dooley?

Was watching Paul Finebaum show the other day. One thing they did bring up was the reason they didnt carry too many Tennessee coach press conference, was because once you seen one of them you have see all of them. They even got tired of that Butch Jones corny quotes.

There's your first mistake ...

Pruitt may be good....but he was the vols 11th choice. Never a head coach, lets see. Wish we did not offer him the kitchen sink till he proves himself....lets hope our 11th option is good

My bad, I thought when u wrote "How many HC offers did JP get prior to us?"...took it as being condescending or sarcastic per se, as in, no one else had made him offers...my bad, and I'll take the hit for assuming.

If he's the real deal, and if nobody can doubt his x's and O's, he will win at least 7 games next year IMO.

This roster has the talent to win 7 imo, looking at the schedule
Not true. We do not have the talent but if we get a lot of luck we could.

I did mean no one else ever offered him. That is a fact, if that is "nega", then that is a silly perspective.

It is a fact.

11th option, untrue. Currie only interviewed 1 person, that was 'his' only choice.

Then everyone backed away from UT, due to Currie not having the respect and authority, in addition to Coach Snyder's (Currie was his boss, and axed him) views to coaches whom inquired. Try getting fans opinion of Currie over in Manhattan (Kansas, that is) as well...that's why coaches/agents kept their distance, until Fulmer came in...then the story changed, and Pruitt was not Fulmer's 11th choice, trust me, he was a front-runner based on asking around and for what he was looking for...come on man, quit reading what the outside media says!

For Pruitt it's about the players and making a difference in their lives. It doesn't matter where he's coaching. It's a lifetime friendship, not just 4 years. He's committed to the Vol players and recruits, that's all that matters. It doesn't matter where he's been, he's a Vol now.

Huh? Pruitt has never stayed anywhere long enough to see a kid he recruited graduate. He has never been anywhere 4 consecutive years unless you count support staff time. But that isn't why we hired him,we hired him to win games.

'Huh', what? Of course we hired him to win, so did everyone else. Regardless of where he's been or gone, the players and him all have a great relationship and have kept in touch...He got a promotion and raise in every situation, so he saw a chance to move and advance forward in his career, like everyone else in life does with a brain.

I wonder how many of those kids he has such a great relationship with... you know... the ones he is staying around to coach will recommend UT to high school kids over Bama
My guess is <1.

He wasnt the 11th choice, currie wasnt hiring the hc after the schiano debacle. Once fulmer came in, he did what should have been done to begin with, and that was interview a number of candidates and chose the one with the best laid plan for Tennessee to get back to where it should be.
