Pruitt is the real deal

Just listened to his Bama press conference. He did a great job of balancing responsibility of Bama for game and UT...along with a non-descript brown suit, w/ no bama or ut colors. I listen to him talk and think "football coach". No corny quotes, but just plain football talk. I think we've got a good one.

For Pruitt it's about the players and making a difference in their lives. It doesn't matter where he's coaching. It's a lifetime friendship, not just 4 years. He's committed to the Vol players and recruits, that's all that matters. It doesn't matter where he's been, he's a Vol now.

If you believe that then I have nice swampfront property to sell you down here in FL.

It's about winning, buddy. They're not paying these coaches millions of dollars to develop character.

Humm, so you are calling Pruitt a liar. Ok. Guess you're qualified to do that...so remind me again how you win, if a big part of it's not all about the kids and them knowing you're honest and truly care about them, thus allowing them to buy into what your selling? And I'm trying to understand how character building in a team environment is not a big part of that?

Plus I think Saban's age is starting to catch up with him, happens to everyone and he is beginning to look tired.

You're right. He is starting to look tired. Heck, he is 67 (I think) and these HC jobs at top schools are brutal. Not an old man's game.

Not sure how you'd really ever know the facts and truth to that question of school offers, and levels of interest on CJP's part as well.

Seems pretty much open info when guys turned down UT.

Doubt it is a big secret.

Was watching Paul Finebaum show the other day. One thing they did bring up was the reason they didnt carry too many Tennessee coach press conference, was because once you seen one of them you have see all of them. They even got tired of that Butch Jones corny quotes.

This is true. Also consider some of the coaches panels they had over the last few years on the SEC Network. Jones was never in attendence if it wasn't SEC meetings. He was like a trained robot and hard to listen to. Good guy but I always got the feeling if you interrupted him it would disrupt his rehearsed lines.

Don't post much, but am on here everyday . . . One thing, people are mentioning all over, "he's never been a head coach".

True, but something to also consider - he was raised by a head coach - think all those years watching his Dad will be valuable as he, all the coaches & support staff, and the players, bring this program back into national prominence.

GBO!

Lurking daily for 8 years with only 14 posts????

Post more!

I also agree about Saban, some of that shine is coming off now. His recruiting will be the first sign of the decline.

Absolutely. There is nothing quite like multiple consecutive playoff/national championship appearances to show a program is in decline. 👌

How many offers did Fulmer get? 152-52....worked out pretty good didn't it negative Nancy?

Fulmer had a stretch of games he was HC that could be used to analyze what kind of coach he could be. Pruitt doesn't have that. Tn is simply rolling the dice like every program does that hires someone who has never been in charge of a program before.

Not sure the relevance pursuant to your original post in conjunction with you 'coming across' as being nega-Pruitt.

That said, why 'allegedly' coaches turned down UT or stayed away is for one reason. They did not really know who they would be working for since Currie obviously did not have the power and respect to make his own decisions freely. Not only that, several coaches reached out to legendary coach Bill Snyder from Kansas State, whom Currie was formerly his boss...and after those calls it didn't take long for word to spread among coaches and their agents, which then caused them to distance themselves from Currie and UT.

You would think the people who make negative post about the vols all the time would find a team they can support and spend their time there. Surely their lives would be happier. Unless they enjoy being negative
about every thing in their life.
