Pruitt Is Done

So....which coach gets the boot this time?? Last time was DL coach...who gets the blame today?

I do....

You don’t have a say.
The people who do won’t pick a winner

A first year coach taking over a bottom of the SEC program. Just showed all of us our coach in his third year isn’t the right guy for Tennessee.

Worst part? Pittman was formerly on staff here a few years ago. Reminds me of that story that Orgeron wanted to stay when Kiffin fled and the Haslams told him to get the hell out too. Makes me sick to think about other coaches coming in through here, getting jilted by the administration, and leaving to greener pastures.

GOOD THING the Phil-o-Potamus gave Beldar a big extension before the f*********g season even started. Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

I’m really curious about the conversations they are having today. OL has been out played so in my opinion OL coach needs to be discussed. We haven’t had a developed QB in years . So maybe a conversation with the Qb coach . Again last night our dbs still struggling with the slant . Is Ansley and Pruitt not working with them ? Is the talent not there? I’m confused. Point is , this team has not lived up to expectations this year . Yea a loss to Bama and ga may be there but not how we lost and how much we should have been competitive in those games. The KY and AR lost is the tough ones to swallow . I do still see the kids fighting on the field . I don’t see that they are giving up . It’s absolutely 100% the coaching . We were down by 11 so a field goal there at the 5-6 min mark should have been done . That last drive Bailey took what the defense gave him . Am I right ? That’s how it works . And then made a great pass down field to set is um with at least a chance
To tie it . I’m just not understanding this. No point in crying or being mad . This is just how Our football team is ran. Yet we have Freeze out here beating VT with left Over players . I really don’t understand .

This^^^
And anyone else up there not interested in winning
Nah, Fulmer was forced to make a last minute hire. He was responsible for retaining Barnes. He did well with the basvol hire. Pruitt showed possibility. He just doesn’t have it. The extension is definitely questionable.

It'a amazing to me how long UT fans will look through orange-colored glasses until the problem is painfully obvious. So many other schools have coaches perform well in their 1st and 2nd years. We've been hearing "youth", "somebody else's recruits", "doesn't fit his system", "not his players", etc. etc. Coaches are paid to win. P.E.R.I.O.D. If he ain't winning by the 3rd year (at the latest), he's not going too.
Exactly. You don’t hear any of these excuses from winners. Winners win.

Players play how they are coached. It is simple and there is no reason to be uncertain about what we are seeing on the field. And don't say we have to hire a proven head coach... just look at what happened against Arkansas who hired a defensive coach from Georgia as head coach. Pittman knows how to be a leader.

Good things won't happen for us. Change my mind.

We'll let someone hire Freeze, Stoops, and Meyer and we'll take Propst or someone we'll have to Google. Then listen to all the VN faithful tell us they trust his process and how his 3*recruits are good enough for him then "he's good enough for me"
I agree, but I don't see UT letting him go this year/during the season. I hope I'm wrong, and they are looking and are talking about bringing someone in once the season is over. I should say it's not going to happen during the season.

Failures like this do not start at the coaching or even at the AD level. The last 12 years are a direct result of incompetence at the BOT and the Presidential level. There is no commitment evident in their decisions for excellence and that holds even in their choices for President and Chancellors. I just don't see a pattern of action that displays a vision for UT to be among the best in academics or sports. Until that changes I do not expect much improvement.

Come on. There's no way Pruitt is intentionally losing. How does that help him? He wants to be a head coach...and one of the great head coaches or he wouldn't have taken this job. He's just NOT a good head coach. His intentions were to kick butt here...then leave to take over after Saban...or something else big. Failing at UT doesn't help him in any way. More money for a few years...sure...but that's it. He just sucks as a head coach. He won't get squat for a HC job after miserably failing at UT. He'll still be a top coordinator though. That's his life going forward. But he has blown it at UT...and he is not trying to lose. He just sucks.

The next few games will tell a lot about Pruitt’s mindset. If he trots out the same old gameplans with the same old people, then he is content with just treading water. If, BIG IF, he wants to be a championship coach at some point, he will begin building for the future this week and sit the people that are not going to get him there. This season is in the dumpster, no salvaging it. Get the young guys in and ride into next year and recruiting (showing that you will play the best player, regardless of class).
