If it is convenient then I will watch when I can or at least listen. But I will no longer build my entire Saturday schedule around being free to catch the game. Other things are more important than self inflicted misery.

Ill definitely watch as always but in the the apathetic dont get too attached. Be more of the frustrated comical relief to waste a given Saturday.

Not attending next years games will not impact the decision process right now. Not attending next year won't convince them to replace him if he goes 9-3 and won't be necessary if he goes 7-5 or worse. So in the off chance we go 8-4 it might be a factor. Will you attend if they fire him now and have to go the interim route for next season? That appears to me to be the direction we are going if the NCAA has some real dirt.

No chance he comes close to that record. Staff has bailed and players have bailed in record amounts. 6 - 6 is good high end. People thinking the ooc schedule would have helped him this you forget we were supposed to play at Oklahoma.

Just delaying the inevitable

I voted yes because I'll do what I've done the last few years,,,I'll check out the replays after I get done with youth football on Saturdays. Watching my grandson play and granddaughter cheer is 100× better than anything put on the field in years. Sometimes I get to watch UT live on tv but it's not the priority it once was.

I don't know that I buy that. Let's say we live in a post-pandemic world and everyone is allowed to attend the games. Picture attendance at other schools in the conference is back to normal. Even if the team went 9-3, if there are only 50,000 people in the stands, they would almost have to make a change. Now, on the flip side, if the team went 7-5 or even 6-6, and there were 100,000 fans in the stands, then they likely wouldn't see the need to make a change.

Fans are the reason the sport exists. Without fan support at games, driving ratings on television, buying merchandise, and donating money, then there would be no college football. They cannot put on this wild production in a vacuum.

As to your interim statement, I don't know. I think the interim route is a terrible one, because you essentially sacrifice one season - unless the interim overachieves and then gets the job - but even worse you sacrifice the future to an extent in recruiting. Also, I feel like Steele as interim, and then possible Head Coach is a doomsday scenario.

Of course I'll watch the games. But if we have another Georgia State level loss or double digit losses in the SEC, I'll stop watching. Honestly, I expect some improvement if Pruitt returns. First time head coach with a fairly young team and limited practices playing a limited SEC only schedule? Probably won't work out well. Yes, he's not shown that he's nearly as good at game-time coaching and talent development as I expected. One more year will be the telling one (unless he's fired for cause of course).

With that said, do one or the other. Can't stand many more posts on this topic.

I watched maybe 5 Titans games all the way through this year. I watched all the UT games except for Vandy and TAM. I got my PhD from Tennessee and live 15 minutes from Neyland.

So I wouldn't put too much stock into my user name.

As far as the "True fan" thing. I guess. There are few titles I care about less than my status as a fan. Seems pretty lame to put so much stock into an identity that you have zero control over. But that's just my opinion and I know most people feel differently.

I feel like there's like there's a handful of relationships in life that should be unconditional, and if "fan" is one of those, you are a sucker. Especially if that title comes with spending hundreds of dollars every year. But again. That's JMO.

Of all the relationships one has in life, being a fan is one that is purely VOLUNTARY. No marriage license, no employment agreement, no oath to take. In the public world if you say you are a fan, you are until documented and proven differently. All it takes is a hat. Time and money investment is not a great criteria either. But your value to the program will be measured by perception of friends and foes alike. Personally I just don't buy a GOOD fan as one that will punish the squad to show displeasure for the coach. Assuming there is a status of REAL you can be a GOOD REAL fan or a BAD REAL fan. In this instance perception is reality. How is your attendance perceived, how are your cheers perceived, and in the last few years we have added how are your calls and your posts perceived. Once again this is by friends, foes and also players and prospects. There you have it, The Old Fart Vol Manifesto. If you are an overt fan you are measured at the water cooler, at church, at local sporting events and at bars and restaurants and boards like this. We all need assess how we think we are perceived.

I think you needed to add "some" as an option.

Will I watch some games? Sure
Will I go out of my way and make an effort? Probably not.

Until I see some positive changes within the program, watching Tennessee football won't be a priority to me.

And I'm not necessarily talking about wins/losses, just becoming competitive.

I don’t love Tennessee based on who the coach is.

However I’ll be complaining every chance I get.

Zero reason for him to be there.

Don’t get me wrong....... I do complain based on who the coach is.

Dr. Pepper should modify its current Fanville advertising campaign based on Knoxville and the Vols. It would be entitled Loserville. Just think of all the characters that could be included....Pruitt, Cheney, Tee, the Chancellor, Fulmer, Kesling, Henry T, Adams, Basilio, Jimmy Haslam, Knoxville Police, the NCAA infractions committee, every coach would have an attorney, and raging fans.
"Tennessee is never relevant!"

It's too hard on my blood pressure. But then again, I said that throughout the 3-7 debacle and watched anyway. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment..

I’m ashamed Tennessee doesn’t care anymore about its Football program
It’s really sad, but I’ve grown to accept it

Football is football and at the end of the day I just want to watch it. Almost losing it this year made me realize how much I’d miss it if it were gone.

I honestly have to ask, with all this drama and public display of chaos that is being portrayed both in the fan base and the media, why would Pruitt even WANT to come back? I know you all are going to say the money, but I have to think at this point he would be happy taking about a $5-8 million dollar check and heading on to Texas DC or some other DC job. Why would he want to come back to a place the apparently dislikes him so much?.............I mean, its gotten so bad that he has to leave his family to fly out to Cali to try and save a player who is already on his roster.......cant be much fun no matter how much money you're making.

Ahh yes, the old "It's the fans" narrative. I'm sure the 3-7 record, multiple double digit losses, and the NCAA investigation has nothing to do with it.

Pruitt's not even close to the main problem with this program. Firing him MAY help in the short term (record wise) but it will not fix things long term. Maybe it's just going to take mother nature to do her brutal, but inevitable work to correct things. Unfortunately I dont think the program has that much time and I'm not real sure the sport itself has that much time.

That said, I'm done with any monetary support until I see evidence of movement towards a dedication to building and maintaining a championship program combined with the focus to get there. This will immensely benefit all aspects of the university, making it a better and more profitable experience for all involved.

I respect and appreciate the players but they deserve much better. Everyone associated with the university deserves much better.

I’ll watch until I see the same ole things happening and then I’ll gain my productive Saturdays back. I didn’t watch another game after the Kentucky loss. Saturdays were actually fun again.
