Winning over Tee. Don’t expect to ever see Tee in orange. He’s done with football in Knoxville. Purdy sad.

Tee is a great recruiter. One of the best. But is not a legitimate offensive mind or game planner. He is surrounded by people at USC that know more about the offense than he does, including both little and big Helton.

Watch USC play. Ask their fans. Tee is not this offensive genius he is being made out to be during the search. You're maybe thinking of #16 a year before.

This, we picked the better coach. Sorry, this isn’t hire a coach just because he’s a Vol. it’s called winning and that’s what he intends to do. He’s been around Stallings, Fisher, Richt, Mickey Andrews, Saban. This isn’t the good ole boy game again. He’s getting guys that can coach players up, scheme, and can recruit.

UGA didn't have any reason to question Kirby's loyalty. I think this is a mistake. JMO.

He's going to sabotage his own job? That is such a dumb thing to say.

If we were in the playoff we would want our DC to stay and finish it out too. If anything his Bama role will suffer more than anything.

Helton is. etter than Tee huh? How quickly you throw our national championship QB under the bus for this life long bammer gump.

We went cheap on this hire. Haslam got him off the sale rack. Wash, rinse repeat in three or four years.

We are no longer competing to win championships. We just want to make a bowl game. Florida, Georgia, and Alabama are automatic losses. We hope to play South Carolina and Missouri competitively. If we play sound football, we should have a chance versus Vandy and Kentucky. That's the future sadly. I don't think we will see another championship in the next 20 years until Fulmer dies. He is our albatross, our FatAlbertross.

It was Fulmer holding us back. It was Hamilton holding us back. Then it was Hart holding us back. Then it was Butch holding us back. Then it was Currie holding us back. Then it was Haslam holding us back. Now it's back to Phil holding us back.

No one is holding us back. Established coaches with high ceilings weren't taking the job. Smaller school guys with high floors weren't going to meet the expectations

Literally the only option was to hire a guy who was unproven but had shown that he was elite as an assistant, who hopefully, would be elite as a HC too. He did that.

They could have laid up, and hired the guy who consistently would have won 7-9 games.

They tried to do that. We stopped it. Then they put it all on black and spun. That's all I wanted. For them to make a hire that would try to be elite.

That is just wrong. No need to talk b.s. to pump up the hire. Helton is great. Tee is the oc and Helton works for him. He has input but Tee called the plays and set the gameplans. Tee helped develop Cam Newton, Tahj Boyd, and a bunch of other qbs. He is being discussed as a candidate for the Oregon job.

Happy with Helton but there is a reason Tee was his boss.

Steele was discussed as a candidate for this job. There is a reason he didn’t get it. Just as Tee won’t get Oregon

He picked one from Southern Cal, just the wrong one, imo.

He's going to have the same type of offense Tee runs. Pruitt wins 2 natty's by year 4, jumps ship for Bama, and Tee slides right in and seamlessly takes over a juggernaut built just for him. :)

Wow! Some of y'all need to do your homework. This staff he's putting together is top notch so far and looks to get better. The recruits are taking notice. The national media is taking notice.

Pruitt's track record is way better than Doofus or Butchy boy at the time of their hiring. And by the way this was not who Haslam wanted. SMH.

Tee did not develop Cam Newton or Tahj Boyd. That's absurd. Use a better word.

Scott is a very good coach. He was completely at the mercy of Butch and his stubbornness with that offense

Honestly, I agree.

But either way, Butch really put a dent in Larry Scott's career. A good season from Larry on offense would have had people buzzing about him as a HC candidate.

Now? He'll probably have to work his image back up elsewhere for 3-4 more years.

Tyson Helton as OC. No SEC experience. That’s not good. Western Kentucky OC experience is sort of unrelated. I hope Phil is watching.

You mean Pruitt is actually bringing in a coach who's coached qbs? Seeing one of those around here is almost as rare as spotting a sasquatch. I also like the retention of Gillespie, very good move.

1.) Not confirmed as OC
2.) Regardless of conference, Brandon Doughty threw 48+ TDs two straight seasons with this guy as OC.
3.) He was QB coach for UAB in 2010, when they threw for 400 yards against Dooley's first UT team.
4.) He's coaching Sam Darnold now.

He's been around some of the most elite and not elite QBs based on physical tools and yet his quarterbacks produce at a high level.

It's a great hire, IMO.
