Pruitt Frustrated By Lack of Support

If Pruitt got us to the Sugar I'd be singing his praises.

So would everyone. We sang them for a mid-tier bowl last season.

He is now being criticized for his second losing record in three seasons...with almost all losses being blowouts. This narrative that we are overly critical has no rational basis whatsoever. These coaches are earning our criticism by failing repeatedly.

I'm old enough to remember those as well, I'm also old enough to remember when our fanbase showed a lot more class when it came to these situations as they do today.

Pretty sure there was a situation with Battle and a moving truck. My parents lived up the street from him and it happened the week they brought me home from the hospital 😂😂

From the sound of it, he can't handle the pressure that comes with the job. If that's the case then he should be gone.

I'll also say that until covid-19 hit, things with him and this program were pretty hunky dory. He had one of, if not the longest winning streak in the nation. Things were looking up. Then C19 hit. Screwed up practices, player availability etc. But C19 didn't just hit here. ARK and KY had to deal with it too. Things really went down the crapper on him in a matter of two months. It's a rough business.

Ark and KY didn't have good years either except for their wins vs us.

When Pruitt accepted the UT job but stayed behind to coach the tide in the playoffs, I was told he was such a man of character. Holds true to his commitments.

Lol. Knew it was a garbage take back then.
When he did that he lost any chance of me buying in until I saw something worthy. He's a ****ing tool and can go back to Bama any time he's ready

Bid farewell to the endless summer of FIRE MALZAHN

I'm not sure what else Jeremy Pruitt thinks he should be given that he does not have at the moment. We're spending top-dollar for assistants and until this disaster of a season he had plenty of fan support around the program. If he is so soft that he is mad fans want him fired after an historically terrible year, I don't know what else to say. At that point, he should just resign and go be a DC.

If this is how Pruitt actually feels, I'm not sure how you can justify giving him another year to tank the program further. Give him his walking papers and let him go be a DC somewhere else if that's what will make him happy.

Very good post.

Why not negotiate a below average buyout for a below average performance and everyone is happy.

You make my point. Those aren't good teams and they beat us easily. They weren't having "Indiana type" yrs. (The Hoosiers are unusually good this year). The fact that they aren't good hurts Pruitt all the more

No it doesn't, there were lots of teams that struggled thanks to Covid playing a big part, TN wasn't the only team that fell victim.

The UT fan mob is what got all of this started years ago, now you want us to trust they have the right answer now? It's time we stop listening to the mob instead of following them off the cliff as we have since the advent of the internet.

Wait, are we crying 5th graders, totally powerless to affect the football program, or a UT fan mob, capable of ruining the program with message board posts alone?

It can't be both...

We’ve been putting up with mediocre results since 2008.

You honestly think we’re b*tching just to be b*tching? We’ve all seen what kind of coach Pruitt is.

Thank goodness the Basketball program has a good coach that knows what he’s doing because this makes the third football coach in a row who couldn’t coach their way out of a paper bag.

The whole blaming the fans BS, is old.
Amen!...This university has thrown crap at us for years knowing we would support it no matter how bad the product was...We spend a lot of money on UT football and we deserve a better product...The fans are done with this turd sandwich we keep getting fed year after year...Fulmer is still doing the same thing he did when he got fired here...It has to stop.

It would be easier on you sounds like if you would just quit the Vols.

There was also no social media, internet sites or 24 hour sports television. I don’t Believe people suddenly became less classy. There are just a lot more public outlets for people to vent their opinions.
Yep, fans have a lot of access and influence and that’s the new norm.

No never but I can gaurantee you that UT would not get another red cent of my money...My family has had season tickets since the early 60's and they are about to give up everything because of the careless product they are putting on the field.

Can you imagine Johnny sauced up on a Wednesday night in 1981 when “Phillip from Wartburg” called in and starts going off on him. There would have been about 15 FCC violations and VOL Calls would have been removed from the air.

And here is the a part that blew my mind.

"So if Pruitt gets fired, he’ll be paid around $12.48 million. That number is what’s called “hard exposure” by contract nerds. And here’s the most important part: The $12-ish million has no offset. Another job paying Pruitt won’t count against the total, though he has no legal obligation to seek further employment after termination. Pruitt is owed a $4 million base salary in 2021, then $4.2 for the four seasons through 2025 (holy sh** you idiots extended him I will never not pause what I’m doing and marvel at that). In 2021, he’ll also receive a retention bonus of $200,000 and an expenses budget of $36,000."

I always think the admin can't get any worse at negotiating contracts and then.... this part.
