I'm sick and tired of UT hiring Bama retreads. Dooley, Sunseri, Lance Thompson....where does it end?

Pruitt is from Alabama, played at Alabama, has coached all up in Alabama and is currently coaching at Alabama.

Please STOP hiring Nick Saban disciples at UT. NONE of them have worked out.

Just stop.

Go hire Kevin Sumlin or Les Miles. Both PROVEN head coaches who have won at very high levels.

Stop with the experiments. Please just stop with the experiments.

Tennessee can't afford to experiment anymore.

You have a hall of fame head coach in Les Miles who evidently would jump right in and Kevin Sumlin (one of the best offensive minds in the game and has won a lot) and you don't go those routes?

Shameful just shameful.

Pruitt has never been a head coach ever. Why would Fulmer make him one now?

I don't understand why we don't want this guy. My FSU buddies say he recruits like a MFer and he knows his X's and O's. He may not be proven, but there is something to be said for taking a guy who we don't know has a ceiling vs taking a Sumlin where we feel safe about the floor, but the ceiling isn't exactly that high.

Kirby Smart has sure worked out for UGA.

Those coaches you mentioned....
Dooley was never a coordinator before becoming the HC of La Tech. Hamilton freaked out and hired him.

Sunseri was a LB coach that DOOLEY hired as DC and tried to switch from a 4-3 to a 3-4

Lance Thompson was only a LB coach at UT.

At this point, the only people anointing anybody as head coach are not involved. Reading internet posts by others does not make it real. Political spin has infiltrated UT football.

There are reasons not to like this hire. Pruitt's Alabama background is not one of those reasons.

Just because it hasn't worked before when we've gotten "Alabama guys" does not mean this one also won't work.

I think it’s going to be even more of a disappointment when his promises of bringing a great staff end up resulting in nothing more than some guys getting raises and/or promotions.

Kirby Smart is a UGA guy! He played there and that's where his loyalties ultimately are.He was destined to go back there.....

Pruitt has zero connections or loyalties to Tennessee. He is literally a Bama dude from birth until now and forever...
Kirby Smart has been nearly the 1 exception.

Stop with the Bama retread experiments....

If Les is such a home run then why isn't he on everybody's short list? There have been more big openings this year than I can ever remember, and I haven't heard his name being mentioned for a single one except for ours.

hate to say it, but youre reviving my anger for this coaching search. I've given up and decided to just accept who was hired. You're making me want to go get my metaphoric pitchfork out again. stop please.

Terrible take. Go do a little research on the guy. Do a little research on Tucker while you're at it. Defense wins in this league. Pruitt was ranked 2nd in total defense this year, Tucker ranked 6th total defense. UT was way down the list at 81st. If you don't understand that this job is still a rebuild then you're a fool. These guys need a solid year, if not 2, in a good strength and conditioning program to compete. And you're scoffing at 2 DCs at programs that we didn't score an offensive point against. Let the results speak for themselves before you judge. Let's not forget that Michigan made a splash hire and are overpaying for a homerun hire that finished 4th in their own division. UT needs solid football coaches not splash hires. Rick Barnes is proving that now.

It'd be nice to find a guy with UT ties, but it's one of the least important factors.
