Pruitt first of 14 current SEC Coaches

Me too brother. :) I’m still a kid at heart but my body says otherwise. Use that recruiting talent to bring us some big boys. As a former QB, I loved watching my O-line take care of business. They did it with pride too.
We've got a couple of contacts in Knoxville, including CPF, it's just seldom nowadays for a kid talented enough to play in the SEC to "fall between the cracks". It happens though, more than you think. We have a receiver named KJ Zeigler that I thought was talented enough to play SEC but none of them came calling. He's 6'2" 190 lbs, runs a 4.57 laser timed forty and has a ton of HS stats. He ended up committing to UT Martin and holds several D1 offers, just none in the power5. People don't understand just how good you have to be to play in the SEC, it's a tough league full of big men. Big linemen are a must, SEC linemen are difficult to find! We're on the right track I feel. CJP is one of the best recruiters in the country and it'll start showing the next few years!

Watching our O line play all reason makes this stat (even if it’s a little off in truth) pretty amazing. And the JG stat of completions without an interception while taking the absolute abuse he has had to endure all season is pretty dang impressive too.

So now we are down to him being the what, 3rd or 4th sec coach to do it. Pruitt has done a solid job. Wish whoever is sending these tweets out would stop embarrassing the program.

How many on your list received offers from Bama, UGA, LSU, Michigan, ND, Clemson, etc.? As an analyst stated this weekend, most of UT's roster was never really considered or offered by the top programs in the nation regardless of the "Stars" and most had to do with either not having the wiggle or overall projected ceilings.

So far what we've seen is kids playing what the coaches are teaching; sometimes good, sometimes not so much . . . CJP and company need time to recruit the horses needed to compete in the SEC . . . and this roster isn't it.

Kongbo, Warrior, Tuttle and Trey Smith all got offered by Bama, Kirkland and Bituli both may have as well.

Yes nc and auburn were ranked at time of playing in smart’s first year

Indeed they were. Seems someone made a boo boo using end of year rankings. That is not correct. Going by what they were ranked at the time played is the norm when people talk about records vs ranked opponents.

The new coach at Mississippi State beat Auburn and Texas A&M, who were ranked #8 and #16 respectively at the time.

Not that what Pruitt is doing at UT isn't impressive, but whoever tweeted that for UT didn't do their homework at all.

Turns out Pruitt is the third SEC coach to beat two unranked teams in the regular season in their first year, two years after Kirby Smart and two weeks after Moorhead.

Also correct. I'm thinking they used a site, such as cfbstats, that uses end of year rankings for past years and updated rankings for current year games. Meanwhile they applied a different method to us, the correct one, using the ranking at time played, which you would see at a site like ESPN.

Depending on where you look, the info the will change. Then you gotta use your head. C'mon UTAD.

They could have used wiki, they are wrong whether you use at the time or end of year ranking.

It’s probably an intern. And as far as being embarrassing, no one is talking about it other than on VN

Hard for me to believe that there are people who believe our talent compared to the talent of Michigan is as wide a difference as a mule and a racehorse. There are as many future NFL guys on our roster as both Michigan and neutered dam. We are not at Al, Clemson or Ga level but nobody else is either in recruiting other than OSU. We have 25 guys playing at an SEC level now and we need 45-60 each year with 20 waiting in the wings. We have help coming the next two years and are set up perfectly to have upperclassmen led teams the next 5 years, something we've not had the last 7 because of constant players fleeing the building because of the coaching and experience that they were going through. Dipstick Jones 1st season had 12-15 players on that roster that went on to participate in the NFL much like our current roster will produce. The key I feel will be what will the young guys do. If you see a bunch of transfers similar to the last 7 years then I suspect we've got problems but that hasn't been the case with CJP so far as he had very few leave his 1st year. We'll lose 15-20 off this roster who are guys that he'll recruit over to help turn the roster for future seasons. We have talent playing now without much help. That same talent should be successful next year simply because we are adding more quality and help to a group that is already talented.

Every single one of those guys received multiple D1 scholarship offers with many coming from the teams you listed. I'm sure it can be researched. Amazing how you added LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame as none of those 3 have accomplished anything the last 5 years, neutered dame maybe but they've got a ton of 3 star and lower level 4 stars playing. Facts are that all 24 of those kids are SEC quality, problem is that we need 60 or those guys going at it. We'll be a bunch closer next year. Talent is not an issue, depth is.

Obviously you are not paying too close attention to national standings . . . Michigan and ND are in the top 5 . . . as for T. Smith, everybody offered him . . . the others not so much!! If you are as you claim to be "athletic evaluator" or "work for a recruiting service", you should know these things off of the top of your head. Receiving D1 offers from Kansas, Colorado, Boise State, FAU . . . is that the same as Bama, UGA, Floriduh, Clemson . . . NOPE!!!

Yep, and if memory serves, in spite of attempts to remove him from my memory, Ron Zook also best two ranked opponents during his first season as our head coach in 2002. UT and UGA were both ranked that year and we were huge underdogs in both games.

Granted, Zook isn’t a current SEC head coach, but he’s done it also.

I did some exhausting internet research, and discovered that Mississippi State is not Joe Moorhead's first head coaching gig, so you can take him out of this equation.
