Pruitt expected to coach Alabama in playoff

He's a bama guy and he is showing he is true to a commitment.
Vs a guy like Kiffin or Taggert, who apparently will drop one hot date for another hot right in the middle of.......

if we were Bama we'd want him to finish out the season for the kids

also, the better he looks on TV and is mentioned now he will be associated with Tennessee... that is good for us

Then explain to me how I can shower, pee, and brush my teeth at the same time?
Is this you?

Clemson is the number 1 team in the nation. That should happen. Are you being dumb on purpose?

Not at all.

Just saying, if his defenses are as good as advertised, I’d like to see it against Clemson.

A quick vent about one aspect of his hire I don't like...

I'm willing to wait and see what this guy can do, what kind of staff he can build, what kind of kids he can recruit, who he can coach up, how he interacts with fans and media and boosters, etc, before I make judgment on the hire.

BUT, why would Fulmer allow him to coach Bama in the playoff? That should have been a non-negotiable condition of hire.

If he's the TN head coach, start acting like it, immediately, on day 1. If he REALLY wants the TN job, which was a prerequisite for Fulmer, then don't wait on a part time coach. Recruiting is going to be hard enough given everything that's happened the last few weeks.

And yes, I understand that to get a great coach, you often have to look to currently great teams (ones in the playoffs). But Pruitt ain't making no $4mm/yr at Bama, and he ain't the head coach there, so his loyalty, and more importantly, his focus, should immediately be with TN. Simply stated, his opportunity cost of taking the TN job should be not coaching the playoff and getting to continue promoting the Bama name.

Just my 2 cents.

1. Bama doesn’t start practicing again until Dec 15, so Pruitt can recruit exclusively for us the next 7-8 days and then split his time until the dead period which starts Dec 18, two days before the early signing period.

2. Like Kirby Smart before him, I suspect he’s a big boy and can do more than 1 thing at a time. When Kirby did the same thing, Saban actually gave him a staff and office space to conduct his head coaching business in the morning before he conducted his business as Bama’s DC in the afternoon....there’s precedent for it, it’s been done successfully, no reason to think Pruitt won’t/can’t do the same as Smart.

3. He’ll assemble his staff in short order, most of, if not all of can begin their jobs in Knoxville in his stead....while he splits his attention between jobs....all while having a fantastic resource on campus in Knoxville, Phillip Fulmer, who’s already been contacting recruits as though he were the head coach anyway.

4. Think this through. It ain’t a big deal, take a longer view of what it is. If Bama loses in the first round of the playoffs to Clemson, which I suspect they will, he’s on campus by January 2 or 3....So we’re talking what, 2 weeks or so where he’s dividing his time between jobs? For a guy signing a 6 year contract, I don’t think having him divide his time for 2-3 weeks is a big deal.

Why are we letting him continue to coach at Bama through the playoffs? We need a coach here putting his heart and soul into recruiting. Especially, after all of the chaos the past few weeks. How can a guy give 110% to two teams? I just dont see it. We gave him his first opportunity to be a head coach and he is going to put us in the backseat until he finishes up at Bama. I am sorry, but that does not sit right with me. If I were Fulmer, I would have told him he gives UT his full attention now or it is a no-go.

You worried about the playoffs of him coaching? He has already hired four staff members. Recruiting will recruit itself here, in the next week. We are headed in the right direction. Don’t worry, he is working both and priotizing both jobs right now.

Seems like the playoff is til the end to me, so yes the NC game too.

I get it. People want him here now, and if it were any other school (save for Florida) we might be willing to give it more of a pass.

That being said, he is contractually obligated. He has commitments to those kids. And I think what I like most is Nick Saban wants him to stay through the playoffs instead of immediately starting his new gig with us. That says to me that Saban is that confident in his abilities as a coach that he doesn't want to lose him for this important time. Looking back to last year that was not the case with Kiffin...I understand they hate each other but by a few accounts Pruitt is not one to hold back from Saban.

All that to say I don't like it either, but it is something that I respect.
:hi: Congrats Vols!

Sure, it'll be challenging for Coach Pruitt to juggle everything equitably in the next few weeks. However, for him, Bama's interests and UT's interests actually do not conflict completely.

Obviously, UT needs Pruitt to work on staffing, keeping and adding commits, and signing EEs & locks in the early period. It's greatvthat he's already off to a fast start with really good staff hires.

Also, it's noteworthy that Pruitt being a key coach in helping win another Natty would be a biggy on Pruitt's resume', which should help Pruitt with UT's recruiting going forward.

It's good for both sides that Pruitt has the advantages of former veteran HC Fulmer's help as well as Bama CoDC Tosh Lupoi's and Saban's help.

It'll be interesting for sure to see how the transiton plays out. I hope it goes well for all concerned.

Glad to see to see y'all end up with a solid HC hire with such good potential.

Our he's following through on his commitment to the kids he recruited thereto mpress the recruits that's looking to come here.

Ridiculous. I can't believe the pumpkin would allow this. He needs to be recruiting for us and focusing on evaluating our team and current recruiting class. Early signing is two weeks away and he wants to just skip it?

Really? Work all year and leave right before a NC opportunity. I think he deserves this.
