Pruitt dismisses Banks.

Hmm, how does a girl unrelated to sports at the university get to Pruitt?

I’m asking because last I heard you couldn’t just walk into the football complex and say where’s Pruitt

No idea. But she said she was going to show it to his coach. Or that's what I thought I heard.

I do believe Pruitt was told to dismiss Banks. I’m sure Pruitt knew about the Aug issue(maybe UT admin didn’t) but once it was discovered, it was over. Pruitt has got a couple writeups in his HR file this week.

I’d say a dumazz football player getting his antics videoed pressures this move. Good riddance.

Another reason to avoid Memphis thugs.

Given the attitude of some of you folks here, I hope every talented Memphis player either plays at MSU, or at one of our SEC rivals programs. We lose quite a few already, I think they all should forgo being Vols. Instead, go where folks don't auto-dump them into a thug basket just because they're from Memphis.

Did you come up with that on your own or did you already see it 3-4 times in the first 5-6 pages? If you didn't understand my post, it means that now with a decent football player off the team, its even more likely that we don't win more than 1 game and that we'll be that much closer to replacing Pruitt. So maybe you'll get lucky and we'll lose all of the remaining 8.

Explain how I'm lucky?

Because it’s a fact Clemson has absolutely zero thugs on their team.

Sounds believable...... 🙄
A Pickens police officer was fired for pulling over Dabo running 60+ in a 35 zone.Clemson’s football team is off limits for police.

Banks brought this on himself, but I do fear where he may end up in life given this pattern of behavior. I hope he finds a mentor soon who can help him grow because his current path could lead him to a very bad place.

Final thought, how is it that this information just became known to Pruitt? It doesn't make sense to me for something that happened in August to just now reach his desk when Knoxville police responded to the scene.

Here's what I want to believe: Communication failures led to Pruitt not being notified of the incident when it first happened. Pruitt was made aware of the August incident within the last 12-24 hours and acted proactively in dismissing Banks.

What I'm not ruling out given the timeline of the events: Pruitt was made aware of the incident shortly after it happened and felt he could keep it quiet. Pruitt was made aware within the last few hours that a national outlet had obtained video of the incident and would likely release it. This prompted him to dismiss Banks in an attempt to save face.

I have a feeling the BOT or whoever's in charge made this decision for Pruitt today.

Kick off Bryce Thompson too then
Things that aren't the same... aren't the same. Thompson got into a domestic dispute with conflicting testimony. Banks broke the law then rather than minimizing the damage by cooperating with the police... he said and did things to make things worse.

Anyone who would drive on a suspended license is a jackass. Anyone who would say something about shooting a police officer is a jackass x 10. Bye bye.

I agree with the sentiment, but I care less about somebody having a driver's license than I do whether that person has insurance, which is unlikely if the person doesn't have a license. The state's not going to fix the damages done by a licensed driver, but insurance might. HA

What a shame, one of the very few players that actually played with a chip on his shoulder, this is a loss for both UT and Banks.......Tennessee just cant get a break, here's to your future Mr Banks, good luck........I hope you have learned something from all this

It isn't a loss. He had 7 tackles in 4 games. Get Joe in the upper deck to strap up. There's your less than 2 tackles per game. We'll be fine.

He shouted " I've been thuggin"

Which means I better not get any crap for calling him a thug. He owns it. No waaaay he did college school work. We got some academic fraud going on too. I suppose every school must.
I think you're over estimating how hard the easiest college classes are.

Elementary school children could pass Banks classes. It's not academic fraud to make a class about coloring books and give it a course number.

I really tried to read through all this thread and found a lot of u turns and side avenues. So, somebody, help me. Was Banks cut because of something that allegedly happened in August? Something so egregious that every person involved with the athletic program would have know about? The arrest video was nothing to me. Kids, me included back then, say some of the dumbest things.

Kid has some dog in him and I really liked that about him. But..... He is off the chain and this staff has tried hard to keep him harnessed. He is a ticking time bomb. Just watch the video and ask yourself, how would he have responded if there had been no authority around. He would not not leave without the last action (slapping the phone) and threatening this girl. Before any of this, go back and watch some of the practice film and look at his approach and effort in practice. There was even a comment in an interview with CJP that Banks needs to learn how to practice the right way. On another video his teammates had to get onto him for his physical behavior. He is a violent young man that feels entitled and above the law. It is really a sad situation because he is one hell of a good football player. I hope he can turn things around in his life.
Last thought... This staff and university owes him NOTHING!! They gave him every opportunity to be all he could be and he chose his own path to a different place. Hate it for UT and him as well. Good luck JB.
