Pruitt coaching for his job vs BYU.

I get the frustration. (And I don’t want him as HC.) He gave up on the run too early. Had 400 yards offense (albeit 60 on last minute). 3 turnovers on your own side of the field were big. QB has to lead, execute open reads and pick up on corner blitzes. “JABBA” shouldn’t call fumble and interception plays, especially on our own side of the field? It’s all on the Hut.

He DIDN'T HAVE A GAME PLAN!!!
SO--you're dang straight that it's ALL on him just like the overall responsibility for the loss is all on Pruitt.

And JABBA bears the responsibility for continually shuffling the OL all game long as if it was planned.....

NO counter gaps to offset GSu's aggressive over-pursuit on D.
NO bootlegs....And even NO SCREENS to make them pay for blitzing all the time....
NO draws....

Nothing to help his QB out at all.....

We ran that toss sweep Chandler took to the house from 30+ yards out ONE TIME.....
Chandler should've touched the ball 30 times in that game
.....

Gray is a good one, no doubt! But CHANDLER is our stud......feed him the ball and watch how many times he just might break the long one....

It was a pathetic overall performance by ALL COACHES....

But that was one of JABBA'S all-time worst games I've ever seen.....

Better post.

Chandler has good too end speed. But what has he done to be called a stud? Honestly Gray looked like the better back. What I can’t figure out is how Tim Jordan is still getting carries. He’s slow and isn’t a powerful runner, atleast with chandler and gray there is a chance they will break a long one.

Losing to such a totally unstoried program like Georgia State is just the latest in a long series of indignities suffered by a once-proud program. Instead of being revered and respected, we are brutally mocked. “Tennessee” is a punchline now.

The only way I see out of this nightmare is to find a way to come up with more money than anyone has ever paid a head coach and hire someone whom recruits and their families are 100% certain is capable of winning big games. Only someone with a stellar reputation can silence the laughter and make the top players in the country want more than anything in the world to be a Vol.

Only a combination of THE best coach and THE best recruits can turn the Vols around now. The laughter will only stop if and when that happens.

Sorry.....Chandler is our experienced, #1 back (aka stud).
And yes, I certainly do think Chandler has the physical tools to be a stud.
He can score from anywhere on the field.

I would've liked to have seen him run that toss sweep about 8-10 times against Georgia State...and Gray too for that matter.
A guy with his speed and moves only needs 18 inches of daylight to turn a 5 yd run into a TD.

Chandler running the counter gap could've gained yards in big chunks.....
That counter gap gets LBs out of position by using their over-pursuit against them--and opens up play-action passes behind them (LBs).
It provides better numbers at the point of attack, and great opportunities for good RBs to break big plays.
But, sadly, we'll NEVER know what he could've done since JABBA didn't give him the opportunity.

Gray did look good....has good mass in his hips and legs....good moves......
He's gonna have to quit dancing around and get north and south sooner IMO--and that's not a criticism, just an observation.

As sad as this seems I believe this is the truth. If we roll into Gainesville 1-2(assuming we beat utc) he plays Florida, Georgia, Mississippi state, and Alabama. Sitting at 1-6 and given how the team seemingly gave up the last two games last season he could lose them again and not win another game. You will see a man coaching for his job Saturday, if they beat BYU maybe they can turn the season around and get 6 or 7 wins. If they lose to BYU I think you see the players give up and we will be searching for a new head coach after this season. Here’s to hoping we beat the Mormons.
Meh... we could get better and better and do what we did last year and he still has a job. Could even get better by getting Bituli back in time for sec play and still pull out some six wins. Terrible loss. Coach took the blame. Let’s see what he can do. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better. I’m proof of that lol

So let me get this straight. Everyone on VN on Friday or earlier predicted a season of 6-10 wins. So after reading posts since the debacle on Saturday the same VN is now predicting 2-4 wins and firing JP. With that logic shouldn’t all of VN be fired?

GTFO! Support the very new staff and process or stop following at all! I’ve been watching, cheering and supporting the Vols since 1972. We lost to freaking North Texas back in the 70’s against an offensive guru that Majors was not prepared for. Anomaly’s happen every 40 yrs or so and basically every major program has had them.

Back away from the ledge and let’s see what happens this weekend and rest of the season then evaluate.

Go Vols!

Stop with all the excuses people Georgia State beat our azzes in all but one phase of the game. No halftime adjustments we played like thought they would stop or the refs would bail us out.
the OLine is unstable The DLine got bullied. A sun belt team put 211 yards rushing on us what the F. WE DIDNT EVEN HAVE A STARTING OLINE/ DLINE TILL RIGHT BEFORE THE GAME. Coach these boys up and dont be babysitting them

That’s my point lol , we shouldn’t lose to Georgia st, not sure why it’s so difficult to understand that point

I get your point, I just think it’s funny that you used hobos as an analogy.

I'll take a shot:
1. Buyout is currently $5 million, drops to $4 million in December. That's a lot of money to me, but in the world of big time college football, not so much.
2. I see three possibilities: Tee as interim and if he doesn't work out I suspect Kiffin would bite and maybe Leach. For what it's worth, I'm not thrilled about any of the three but I agree that the choices would be slim.
I don't think many VOL fans would be up for a Kiffin return. That ship has sailed and sunk already!

You have different information than me.
Complete Contract Details for Vol Head Coach Jeremy Pruitt | RTI
says:
"Pruitt’s buyout if he is fired “without cause” is $6 million if he is let go before December 15th of 2018 and decreases by a million dollars every year until 2022 when there would be no payment due him if he is fired without cause on or after December 15th of 2022."
If this ish keeps up until 2022 there might not be any fans left to cheer!

There's a near certainty that Pruitt and the staff aren't the problem. He inherited roster problems. He doesn't have SEC caliber DL's and hasn't had time to build them. He has a QB who wilts when the lights come on. He has an OL that can't seem to find a block.

IMHO, he should shake the depth chart up and play for the future. But he has to make that call. It is his job to keep or lose.

Georgia State isn’t a SEC team. No excuses for the debacle we seen Saturday.

I don't care if JG did throw for throw over 300 yards he's the problem, stares down receivers, and still can't read a corner of safety blitz

30 points should have been more than enough to beat Ga State. I know it’s easy for everyone to blame the QB, but JG is far from the main issue on this team.
