Pruitt can get it done

Saying Pruitt can get it done and at the same time saying he can’t hire assistants for crap seems kind of contradictory, no?

In 2017, 4 win Florida hired a proven winner in Dan Mullen. They curbstomped UGA today.

In 2017, 4 win UT hired a guy who couldnt sniff a legitimate job interview (MSU was going Moorhead all along and the Pruitt interview was a favor to Sexton). They were curbstomped by team that had lost 20 straight SEC games...

Pruitt is an abrasive di-k that has reputation for being difficult to get along with and being stubborn. He is a dead man walking. He micromanages people. What competent assistant in their right mind would leave their current job and come here?

This seems to be exactly what the problem is. People walk on egg shells and he micromanages every aspect of the game with the ideal that "he's the smartest guy in the room." Ultimately it'll be his downfall.

I know you guys just love Tee Martin. I think the wide receivers not getting separation is amplifying bad quarterback play. Yes, he's a VFL and yes he won a natty, and for that I'm forever bonded with him. But I'm not seeing our receivers helping. Sure, the QB has to put the ball in the right spot, but it sure looks like since the Kentucky debacle, we have started running the ball more. Defenses are stacking the box. Ark's DL was bad enough to where it (the run game) was working kinda. I think the root of the problem is the passing game on offense. Weinke and Tee aren't impressing me just about now.

I mentioned this a couple of years ago about his reputation (and I was belittled like crazy). Sexton tried to get Pruitt an interview with the Univ of Memphis in 2015 after Fuente left. Memphis knew of reputation and wouldnt even give him/Sexton a token interview (they were going with an offensive hire all along).

Heck, even Memphis gave Derek Dooley an interview before choosing Larry Porter (We hired Dooley a few weeks later).

On the Defensive side of the ball.... anyone who denies this knows very little....

But his assistants are not getting it done.
Since we are stuck with him for at least 1-2 more years, then his staff will have to be rearranged..

Theses are the Coaches who need to go:

1. OC
2. QB
3. OL
4. Need new DL coach
5. Need another DB coach imo

If we get a good OC, then they can coach QB too...
So we will need 5 new coaches to improve this staff.

Chaney to me is a bad play caller with little variety or imagination....this offensive staff is truly offensive..

It feels like there is major dissension in the ranks..I wouldn’t be surprised to see a mass exodus of coaches after this year, as they may perceive Pruitt as a dead man walking....

I still think Pruitt deserves 1-2 more years if he can get a much better staff together, especially hiring a top innovative OC.
Do you think good assistant coaches are going to come here with Pruitt on the hot seat?? Doesn't matter if UT denies that Pruitt is on the hot seat, but the media will keep it going...

Then he needs to be a DC.
LOL.... “Bye Don” ..... your previous avatar quote of “FDT” ...... I honestly thought it was “F” Donnie Tyndal😂😂......

Obviously never asked but I always thought ....”Damn man.... what is VSF’s beef with Donnie Tyndal”

Gone through a plethora of assistants with Pruitt here as HC. Same pitiful results. That points to the HC being the problem, just saying.

I think this last batch of assistant coaches is really bad...Defense is terrible, and offense is terrible. He already had terrible assistants on the offensive side of the ball...

I think you're missing a few. Ansley needs to go or be given defensive control. If he's "that good" let him be "that good". If Pruitt is just gonna play DC, then why the hell is Tennessee paying someone for that spot. Ansley supposedly coaches safeties. Our safety play hasn't been quality.

I'm sorry, but Nieds isn't a great coach. Great recruiter. But if that's his purpose, then just make him the recruiting guru period with no positional responsibilities. There is the extra coach now that wasn't there a few years ago. Teams back then handled coaching the positions with one less than now. Pay Nieds 1M and let him run the recruiting show. He can be designated an on field coach so he can go recruit, but let him coach the long snapper.

Here's the list.

QB. Go find one of these new guys who's played in the past 5 years as a starter but didn't make the NFL and wants to coach. Whoever it is can clearly do a better job than CW.
OC. Go find either a failure at head coach who's been fired but is clearly up to date, or go get one. Osovet maybe
OL. Anyone would be an improvement I'm sure. There has to be someone who can coach.
TE/WR. I've been reading all year about receiver separation. It hasn't improved. Sorry, but Tee isn't cleared of responsibility here just because he's a VFL.
RB. Jay can stay, but his performance better improve to historical standards he's had.
DL. Obviously screwed up here letting Tracy go. Won't get him back unfortunately, go find someone like him. Recruits will come based upon performance more than how good the coach is on the couch with mom.
LB. Same as DL. Get a good coach. If you are going to rotate linebackers between inside and outside. Why have two coaches. Consolidate or leave the kids in one place and let them be better at something rather than average at everything.
ST. Go get a kicking/punting coach.

Chaney calls plays like he’s trying to get fired.
I'm not sure Chaney is calling the plays at all because there is nothing about our offense that looks like a Chaney offense. I think Pruitt is taking too much control of everything and is not letting his coaches do their jobs.
