Pruitt CAN be fired, buyout not a problem

Wanted to post this and see what everyone thinks. If he's fired, there will be an offset for his income from another job. No way he sits around without someone (likely Bama) picking him up as DC at 1 million per year or more. That would knock it down quite a bit.

He's had massive turnover on his staff already and lost S&C guy. It seems that he is hard to work with and everything you hear is that he is stubborn. Playing JG is clear evidence of that.

It's obvious to rational people that it's not going to work. I hope we go ahead and rip the band aid and get it over with.
Does anybody know how much money Fitzgerald got from the Giants to be their S&C coach? I've looked on the internet but cannot find anything. He was making $650,000, here with no state income tax. I would think he would have to make $1 mil just to break even with the move to NYC...

Imo, as much as I enjoyed the turn around last season, it was the worst thing that could've happened.

If you want to be Florida, Georgia, Bama ect you have to demand a level of success.
I’ve said that Mullin at Florida will find a way to lose a game or two a year he shouldn’t and it will keep him from winning championships. If I’m right Florida will fire him and get someone else. They have a championship standard there. We do not.

Muschamp and shark humper were championship standard hires?

Need to investigate Chaney b NCAA and/or SEC. No coach making that much money is that dumb. He may be playing the Vegas odds.

If Florida doesn’t win championships they will fire him. He could be here forever. They have a much higher standard than we do. But please keep living in denial

Denial? Referencing what? Man you have no idea WTH you're talking about. Florida is winning the EAST this year, in Year Three of Mullen, AFTER Mcelwain got canned. It's only up for the Gatas ; since Mullen exposed Kirby. Get you some Football Edu; Please.

There is no way UF looked at both of those guys and thought they were championship level hires. Mullen isnt a championship level hire. Good hire? Absolutely. Championship level? Highly, highly doubtful.

Man, we some kinda jealous; huh? Florida will win the SEC East ; this year; when UGA was all but crowned preseason. Yall hate UF so much (Easy to do) that you can't even give a good Coach His Due?? WHO won at MSU for the first time in decades? MULLEN. Smug? Yep. Irritating? Yep. DM Can Coach Football. CHAMPIONSHIP Football.

Yes. If you think Tennessee cares about championships you’re in denial
So......I think that Mullin will screw up enough to not win championships and will eventually be fired for not winning championships. The post above you is arguing that Mullin isn’t a championship hire. You’re here upset that I don’t think Mullin is a championship hire.

I’m going to try this one more time real slow for you.
Mullin isn’t the point. The point is that Florida cares about winning championships. If you don’t win them there you are gone. Tennessee doesn’t care about championships and therefore will put up with being ******. If I’m right (and I’ll even say I’m probably wrong) then Mullin will be fired by Florida but could win enough at Tennessee to be here forever.

Let’s also go at this from another direction. Butch Jones was here 5 years. Florida would have fired him after 2 1/2.

Now the point of all this is.....once again......the Tennessee administration attitude vs The Florida/Georgia/Bama attitude. Theirs demands championships and ours accepts mediocrity.

OH, I See. You just didn't splain it that well previously. Basically, Tennessee is a CF. How the hell did this happen? Well it's always been borderline. UT Does NOT care about Winning Football. Schools like Alabama Care about nothing else. I WISH I coulda been a Bammer; NOT! I wish UT cared like bama! Fire the entire Administration!

Here's the buy out section. It makes it clear there is no mitigation/offset. The extension moved the end of the contract date to Jan 31 2026.

http://tennessee.edu/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Jeremy-Pruitt-football.pdf

Section 3.1.2

If the University terminates this Agreement without Cause pursuant to Section 3.1.1, then the University shall pay Coach a separation payment in the amount of sixty percent (60%) of the Base Pay and Supplemental Pay which would have been payable from the University Termination Date through January 31, 2024 (the "University Separation Payment''), without any mitigation obligations incurred by Coach or offset rights atbibuted to the University following any such termination. Payment of the University Separation Payment shall be made in equal monthly installments over a period equal to the number of months remaining until January 31, 2024, with the first monthly installment of the University Separation Payment due on or before the thirtieth (30111)day following the University Termination Date. The University's obligations under this Section 3.1.2 shall not accrue interest (so long as not in arrears).
Wth is atbibuted? Our lawyers from Alabama too?

After the past performances and the rumors about Pruitt being hardheaded and hard to work with, (which are looking more factual every game) I don't expect any amount of money could bring in the kind of guys you are talking about.
Yep.

The first step has to be Pruitt taking a step back and determining that the first issue is how he manages others.

Second step is to hire the best and step back and let them do their thing.

Making every offensive play call go through him and calling DL and LB calls and making DA adjust secondary calls is just too many chefs in the kitchen and micromanaging his staff.

If you are micromanaging you’d staff, you simply do not trust them.

Hire those smarter than you and let them do their magic. It has worked for many successful CEOs.

It seems like alot of people can see Pruitt is not a good hc. There's alot of articles since last night blasting Pruitt and saying his days are numbered.

Is there a way to get rid of Pruitt and not pay a buyout?

Kind of a shame because our talent level looks good. It's something else that's missing.

Revenue lost this year has hit most universities hard due to Covid and I am assuming UT is on that list, I just don’t see it happening this year...
UT has been losing money for 13 years. Non-renewed season tickets, not buying terrible food, not 100% capacity in many years and now they are 40 million in the red and it is getting worse. So, it's not just this year

Exactly! This mentality is the exact reason why we are stuck on this carousel!

Go big or go home (or get sent home) which is what’s been happening to us by constantly playing the cheap card.

People are silently protesting. I know I am. I haven’t spent a dime on UT in 2 of the last 5 seasons. It’s my only way of showing displeasure. If everyone would do the same and make Ut aware of it they’d get their butts in line.
Yep. if people will stop going, change will happen. Hit 'em in the wallet!

I know our fans are disappointed and all the big difference maker donors on this site 😂😂are ready to pony up money to buy CJPs contract but if you fire the head coach (again) before he’s completed 3 years you can forget getting any serious consideration from a coach you would want. I HIGHLY doubt you’ll ever see Freeze or Meyer coaching here so hiring a known proven can-not-miss coach would be virtually impossible. I would say to buckle down for the ride because I really doubt CJP is going anywhere anytime soon. Those donors that DO make the difference have no stomach for ponying up that kind of cash especially with the potential of what we are probably going to be faced with in our country now. I’m sure others out of their desire to win now will have a different take and that’s fine.

He’d probably go back to Hoover and get paid $100K leaving us on the hook for the rest. PF should be in Freeze’s office right now refusing to leave until the deal is done. Instead, he’s probably in his own office watching old VHS tapes of how good we used to be thinking cornbread is going to take us to the promised land.
Phantastic Phil blocked Freeze before

BS, that’s loser’s mentality! Coaches don’t view things like this!

Pruitts contract supposedly does NOT include an offset from other income if he’s fired. So he can make $1mil at Bama as DC and still get his $12mil from UT. Fulmer supposedly agreed to this with Sexton.

Big donors never came thru with money for Dooley or Jones buyout so I doubt they bail Fulmer out either.

The place is a complete shitshow.
I doubt that, it’s standard practice to offset, but then again, our administration is weak and lacks true organizational leadership.
