This goes deeper than JG. This coaching staff is not good enough.JG hit his ceiling as a sophomore; the play calling is horrible.....no crossing routs which are easier to complete; are wr routes are down the side lines or outs which are more difficult to complete; the OL is easily the most talented in UT hx however is underwhelming bc of a crappy OL coach. The D is spotty at best; out of position for the back 7 too much. This team has talent.....much more that KY; completely out coached. There are no more excuses needed. The COVID/limited practice thing is an crutch...... other teams have new starting QBs are are doing fine. The common denominator is coach/ coaching decisions. Or lack there of.
The only thing I want to hear is an admission that JG does NOT give them the best chance of success and a promise to give someone else the start next week. Pour the week of preparation into Bailey or Maurer. I don't care which. I don't even care if they're tremendously successful. I'd just like to see an end to the insanity... continuing to run JG out there and expecting a different result.
CJP needs to recognize poor QB play can and does shoot a football team in the head from a motivational stand point. He needs to quit the "best chance to win" thing with JG. That needs to be buried because it sure is dead and beginning to stink. He should say we're going in a different direction and a youth movement from here on out the rest of the season. Start HB and rotate in Shrout or Maurer as necessary. Maurer has issues or he would have played today. Some of those may be associated with his needing medication to get through a normal day.
Hate to say it but he's done. Recruiting class is fixing to implode on him.Year 3 for Pruitt, and he gets blown out by Kentucky at home, in the worst margin of victory since before WW II.
This game will be his career-defining game, and referenced for the next two seasons on every Saturday before he is ultimately fired.
