Not a good poll. My approval rating for Pruitt has remained basically unchanged--SHOW ME. He has not shown me much last year or this year.

He was a budget hurried hire and nowhere near good enough to be the HC of UT. With years of similar hires behind him he has added to the decline of Tennessee football.

It’s shameful the admin refuses to make a quality hire and that so many fans blindly engage in hero worship while sacrificing the programs long term wellbeing.

He should not be paid a cent. We did not pay him 4 million dollars to be a loser. He's just another fulmer.
Fulmer won a NC, was the winningest coach since Neyland, and had us consistently in the top 5 teams in the country. I wish Pruitt was another Fulmer! What planet have you been living on? Fulmer haters are total idiots.

Hard to argue with that. But, other than Mullen, what quality hire COULD we have made? Coaches mentioned as possibles: Chip Kelley? Failure at UCLA. Fuentes? Failure at Va Tech. Petrino? Missouri State--need I say more? Leach? Probably the best we could have done, but he ain't exactly tearing it up right now. Those were the big names many on here wanted, and none of them would have been able to satisfy the fan base other than Mullen. By the time Fulmer assumed control, Mullen was off the table. The only way to get back to prominence is get a coach with the potential (which is a gamble) and hope he can get it done. We ain't getting Lincoln Riley, but we might get the next Lincoln Riley or PJ Fleck. If I were hiring, I would probably go for Bill Clark.

I'm still at unacceptable. I dont think financially we can fire him this year (Fulmer we can though).

Think he should get a shot without Guarantano.

Lose to Vandy and nothing can save him
He COULD HAVE ALREADY HAD A SHOT WITHOUT JG. He chose to play him. That's indictment enough

JG starting against Vandy does not surprise me anymore. How many times does Pruitt have to say JG gives us our best shot at winning for us to believe it?

And that's whats scary. Pruitt has not been trying to prepare for next year at all; He is actually trying to win these games we are getting blown out in. Every game we have lost has not even been close. Teams we should easily beat have boat raced us this season. We have looked like the unprepared team every single game. The beginning of last year no longer confuses me. This is on coaching.

People say Pruitt keeps his job if we beat Vandy. That's the lowest bar I've ever seen for a coach at Tennessee. Some of yall's minds will change when Florida and TAM handle us with ease. How do you think Pruitt looks when both those teams beat us by 20 minimum? That's gonna happen. We have yet to see Rock Bottom with Pruitt. I'm actually afraid a Vandy win convinces us to keep Pruitt.

Cut ties now or recruiting suffers, players bail, fan apathy grows, and a more difficult and costly coaching hire happens this time next year. This is where we are.

I wanted to choose "unacceptable" but, his disturbing inability to recognize that changes need to be made at QB, O-line coaching, etc., forced me to go with "Fire Now". We can't cut our financial losses because of moronic contract terms by Tennessee. However, we can cut short the inevitable and try save the time it will take to start again from ground zero.

Mullen was the best choice at the time. As I said then, we will absolutely regret Florida hiring him.

Leach would have been a very acceptable plan B. He requires an amazing D coordinator and some recruiters, but he can do pretty amazing things. Its amazing how so many have tried to give Pruitt a Covid pass in year 3, but won't look at Leach through the same lens. It will take him a couple seasons to get rolling. That said, if he were at UT he'd do something like start a losing streak against Vandy but a winning streak against Florida, or something similarly rediculous. It would at least be hopeful and entertaining.

I think bring Freeze in while we still have a decent roster, and actually we will gain more money than the buyouts cost us. It will bring excitement back to the team. There seems to be no excitement on the team now. Players just going thru the motions. They celebrate when they make a good individual play but don't see the team concept celebrating.

Lost to Georgia State, should have been fired after last season.
You can't lose to Georgia (flipping ) State.

.... He's just another fulmer.

If Pruitt wants to give us nine 10+ win seasons, be the winningest active HC in the FBS for several years, and throw in a couple of SEC championships and an undefeated national championship season before growing tired and complacent and be let go, I'll take it. He can stay.

Interesting that two of the "thumbs up" on our posts were from the same peopleo_O. But, if you think Fulmer's record was bad during his tenure, well, it just invalidates your opinion. We would be far ahead of where we are now had Fulmer been given a couple of more years to work thru the issues he had at the end of his tenure. Other than Neyland, name one coach we've had that was better.

Can we add another option? Fire him if we hire a real coach ? Haha , I don’t want to have to Google him and then be sold as to why he will be the next Saban as he cruises to a 3 win season
It's the only way you part ways at this point. A lateral move to anyone comparable to Pruitt is a waste of time and money. You only get rid of him if you're upgrading bigtime. Just the same Pruitt hasn't set the bar too high.
