Pruitt apparently caught it tonight on Vol Calls

"The only thing that I know how to do as a coach is you practice every week, aight, and the guys who practice the best, they play. It’s the way we’ve been doing my whole coaching career. That’s the way we done it when I was a player in peewee’s. There’s no participation trophies. Now, as a coaching staff, we need to get all of our guys, aight, to play at a higher level. I feel like Saturday, if you look on the offensive side, we ran the ball extremely well. I felt like our offensive line blocked well up front, but we have to challenge the other team, and that’s something as a staff, that’s on us, that we’ve got to do a better job doing that and getting the ball out in space and down the field.”

The transcript doesn’t paint the picture of how cringeworthy Kesling’s reaction was after Robbie from Tallahassee’s call.

Then a few minutes later Wordsmith Bob gave us this classic from the Department of Redundancy Department:
Bob Kesling: “And the fact is, every one of these guys had an option to opt out”
Department of Redundancy Department? Lol--that's gold, TGO!

if I was the producer for Vol calls I would allow trolls, that would make the show much more entertaining. Imagine you can troll the HC, ppl would eat that up. We would have more of our rivals watching then Vol fans but it would sell...and be hilarious. No more softball interviews.

Hillarious! Dude said he could care less about a steakhouse in Alabama? Priceless! And if after three years in rust belt civilization, Pruitt is still talking about Ala-effing-bama, then he needs to carry his cornbread eating, bad grammar, deep south, red neck ass back there.
Amazing that there is a steakhouse in Alabama worth talking about. In my work induced sojourn in the Birmingham area, all I see are carbon copy BBQ joints. A new restaurant is opening down the street from me and I sarcastically remarked to my family, „Oh just what we didn’t have around here, a BBQ restaurant „

I can see the Vol Calls staff having Roger on stand-by to filibuster so the negative calls won't make it on air.

I listened and I was very surprised at the first caller giving him the business I heard who said something like, "I called to ask about the defense, why is Gurantano still starting? Is it an indictment of Chris Wenke not developing the quarterbacks or is it recruiting failure?"
I about spit my drink out.
That was me. Chris from orange park Fl. I didn't get to hear the response living here in Florida. Glad it made it on the air.

Normally they screen the calls, so that tells me all is not well with the world over there on the Hill
They attempted to screen the call. I told them I wanted to talk about the defense and the virus etc. Glad it made it on the air. Right after I asked my question they hung up on me instantly.

That's a great point. UT fielded some very good teams with some legendary players the last decade of Ward calling the games. Bob hasn't had a whole lot to work with. When things aren't going well on the field fans complain about everything. I don't think Bob is that bad. Just listen to other games on Sirius XM this Sat.
People have obviously never heard Gonzaga basketball play by play guys on XM radio. Good grief. Y'all should listen to that deadpan.

You can change the offensive COORDINATOR. Promote Chip Long!

From Pruitts own words, it appears he calls the shots, so in essence Pruitt is the oc and the dc. He doesn't seem to realize he can't make good football decisions on the field when he is micro managing his assistants

A new episode of Season 3 airs in 30 minutes. I’d wager the Bob won’t be letting callers question Phil’s contract extension.
Why would they?? Coach has been a great AD, I'm sure you question his football hire but thats only a part of his job, he does great work in all aspects of being an AD

What are the odds you’d make it to your car afterwards 😉

Because they hid it when it was given well into the pandemic and the supposed budget problems. And then Fulmer gave Pruitt his 4 months later.

Bob would be appreciated more by the fans if Tennessee football had been more successful during his tenure. Bob is excellent and has called the games as well as anyone could. Tennessee football just isn’t anywhere near where we were before John Ward’s retirement. Can’t blame Bob for that.
I just never liked his personality. Not when he did the sports in the news or when he did the JP games.

Agree with this. Blob Kesling just doesn't have a personality that is easily likeable.

Plus he absolutely sucks at calling games. It has nothing to do with how successful TN is, he just sucks. Bad.
