I think Jeremy is a hell of a defensive coordinator. I also think that he has the potential to be OUR next great Head Football Coach. (If we allow him to).
One of the most impressive things to me is how he talks and breaks down plays and exactly how and what went wrong during his post game press conference to the detail. It's impressive because that shows me that he knows the problem. I don't think Butch or a lot of HC today would have a clue and would probably have to watch the film to decipher what happened. He is a coach that's coaching a team with less talent that he's probably had with any other team. Let him get his players before you guys start giving up on him. Minus a couple of big plays due to young mistakes in the back end, our D has been impressive to me. I know final scores and numbers don't match that description but I can tell a big difference.

Jeremy's Temper:

Let's all remember who Jeremy has been around the most, that's Nick Saban. Nick act's the same if not worse than Pruitt does. The only difference and why it's a big deal, is that we're losing (bama privilege) and seeing possibly some of our player(s) leave the team because of him. I'll say this... I'm not for Jeremy to ever put his hands on a player, for any reason. I don't care if the player wasn't looking at him or showing respect. He has talked about being raised hard by his parents but these aren't your kids and once you've put your hand on a player..that's across that line IMO. He needs to watch that! I think he will learn from this, that's probably why he chose to kick the white board instead this week lol.

Conclusion:

If some of our player(s) want to leave the team because of Jeremy's coaching style, I'd say see you later. Baring Pruitt lying about what truly happened or something we don't know about....then if they don't want to buy in and be coached by you..Just let them go coach and I don't think we should biased either way. These kids we're coached by Butch Jones and probably got away with what they wanted. Sometimes it's better to move on than try to rekindle these guy's attitudes.

My Vol Brothers and Sisters:

Can we just take a time to soak in what this feels like, what it is and what it has been? Sometimes you have accept things for what they are..... We suck right now.....We have sucked... and there is no way of telling when we will be champs again. I'm tired of being the laughing stock of the SEC but we do it to ourselves sometimes. I know everyone on here has heard of or seen someone talk about "Wait until next year", we'll that's obviously because we get our hopes up every year. Hell, I seen one guy post about how we'd be SEC champs on here this year. LMAO! It's every year man!
I'm not saying we should accept mediocracy, I'm saying truly accept the fact that we are mediocre right now and until we aren't mediocre and "good" again....no matter what the excuse is for why we aren't(talent, young player's, coaches, AD), we should just shut up because we're embarrassing ourselves and setting ourselves up for a let down.

Keep on supporting our Vols like I know we will and one day..(next year...jk), we will be good again. Let's all give our AD, HC and current players the patients that they need to turn it around.

As always, GO VOLS!

Some see the potential for tomorrow. Some see the issues of today. Glad youre hopeful. Hope CJP does well here. Im not hopeful. Lets take his ability to break down film and diagnose what went wrong. Imo, that makes him a great analyst. Doesnt make him a great HC (for the future).

No, I agree with you on that. That's why I said potential to be a great HC. It doesn't mean much but it sure as hell means that if he can put the other half together then has that potential. I'm saying though, in order for us to know for sure or not then we need to be patient. There's no way anyone should be out after just 4 games man.

I am really hopeful. I think we've beat the teams that we're supposed to beat and done it how we should at that. I see a team who's lost to better players on the field and with more experience. I see a potential for a great HC that has things to work on. I wouldn't and didn't expect him to come in being a first time HC in the SEC and be perfect or even close to that.

Have faith man.

If im reading the board correctly and looking at the poll in another thread, only a very small number of people are advocating cutting ties. Others (like me) dont see much on game day that gives confidence we got the right man to lead us back to championships. I hope im wrong...weezer does too.

Well I'm not going to say that you're wrong either but I see a reason to think he's NOT the right man. Like I said, It's 4 games but it's also his first season. I don't see how anyone could see anything right now and say, "HELL YEAH, CHAMPIONS IN THE NEAR FUTURE" with that being said, I don't know a single guy that would make us feel that way. Even if we had Saban on the sideline and didn't know his record... we would be saying same things as we are currently with Pruitt IMO. I just see a lot of little things that give me hope. I think we can find something in all great HC's that would make us wonder how good he was/is...especially if they aren't winning at that moment.

I hope you're wrong for the record too. Lol but you're entitled to your opinion and I respect it.

September 12, 2009. It was a warm sunny day as I recall. We lost at home to a pedestrian UCLA team. That's the day people started telling me to be patient and trust the coach. He knows what he's doing. It's a process. We have to be the most virtuous fan base in all the land.

It's definitely tough. I believe our dedicated fan base deserves a winner. And, with improved recruits in our own state, it should be more likely. But for now, what other options do we have? Apparently, no big name coaches are beating down our door to coach here. Right now, we've got to hope Pruitt develops in to a big time coach.

Excellent post. I am hopeful as well. There is no guarantee when it comes to hiring a head coach, especially one that has never been one before. Many seem to think that if a coach doesnt have a turnaround like Saban or Malzahan, then they arent any good. You are correct with giving the staff time. Seeing the posts on here since Saturday should tell how impatient the fan base can be. They use the phrase well we are Tennessee like this badge of greatness. That is dead and gone. This is a full on rebuild. People can deny or ignore it all they want. They can claim its an excuse all they want. But its fact.

Pruitt walked in, saw our team and commented on how small we were. We wre starting true FR on the OL and DBs. It coukd be argued that Banks, a true FR, is our most talented RB. We have heard that Tillman, another true FR, is a dynamic WR in camp. Now are we palying these true FR because of injury or disciplinary action? No. They are being played because they are better than the JRs and SRs left over. That should speak volumes. I mean some are even saying we should play Shrout at QB? Again, this should speak volumes.

In the end, this is going to take a few years to get really going. I hate it as much as anyone but its a waiting game. Do I think Pruitt is the guy? Yes I truly do. But he may not be. Thats the gamble. We need stability in this orogram to be successful. You dont be successful taking the hire and fire approach every 3-5 years.

Good take. The time to hire the big winner was in 2009. Haslam/Hamilton screwed that up. So now we are where we are.

Back in the day vs Ole Miss in Memphis in either 1974 or 1975 I was sitting on the 40yl behind the Vol bench and vividly remember watching HC Johnny Majors grab a player on the sidelines by the face mask and literally get in his grill.

Not sure what the aftermath/fallout was at that time but back then I just saw it as tough love discipline not abuse. But I’d guess today Majors would probably be fined suspended or possibly even fired.

I hope we are good again. It’s been so long I don’t remember what it feels like

What is this good you speak of? Does it equate to a "W" against a quality SEC opponent?

Seriously, I was on here last night venting. I was just as disappointed as anyone, but, I bet the team was even more disappointed. They didn't run out on the field wanting to lose, no player does. Things just snowballed out of control, then they got tight, the coaches got tight, and that affected their play.

Also, how the hell did that late hit on JG not get called? The replay clearly showed the UF guy "aiming" for JG's knee after the ball was long gone. I hope CJP sends that piece of film to the league.
