Pruitt’s QB games

He told JG he would not start another game for UT, and this is his way of sticking to his word!

Well you have to have a running game in the SEC and too his defense we haven't had one consistently since Fulmer left and we are now beginning to have a running game. You have to be able to do both in this league. Your not going to spread the field and throw everytime and win the sec. That's just a fact. Pruitt likes opening it up as well, I have heard him several times say we have to make plays downfield. But he knows that you have to have balance on offense and be good at the LOS in this league. It's pretty simple actually. GBO!

Your reply seems to be written as a rebuttal of something not said or implied.

Wasn't meant to be a rebuttal, just talking out early, didn't have enough coffee yet I reckon. Just stating what it takes, the 3 clouds dust anology from some is silly. We were at a point where we had to get better at the running game and you have to run it some to do that. GBO!

Its simple, first season players, rule number one, protect our football. Break that rule, ride the pine while you think about it.
Good point. I guarantee this will help him in 2 years, when he’s under center for Justin Wilcox.
🤔
GBO!!

Shrout consistently puts the ball in harms way which is why he does not get as many snaps. His arm talent is exceptional but he can’t be trusted as of yet. When you throw 25 ints as a H.S. senior you know there’s a lot of work to di
How can you say consistently when he plays one possession and JG comes in? That does not make sense even if he doesn't do the best on that series, the next series could be good. JG makes the same mistakes and he doesn't get pulled.

That was not his 1st terrible pass, they pulled Shrout for a throw that wasn't even near as bad a throw as that INT.
That's fine, not defending all of his passes, but you should have left out the part of actual interceptions happening or I wouldn't have commented lol but I get what you're saying.
It wasn’t his first turnover since Florida.
SandoVol's post was about throwing the ball.

Guys, it's like this ...

Hey, Kentucky! Who's gonna be our QB this week? I don't know. You don't know.

Even if JG is clearly better and the so called starter it just doesn’t make any sense at all why you wouldn’t put JTS in the game to get meaningful snaps and game day experience when you are up 23-0, 30-0. Especially since JG has 7 or 8 screws in his hand and JTS is perfectly healthy. Hate to say this, but it just doesn’t make CJP look very smart at all.

Hate to say this, well, no I don't.

Why does Shrout have a knee brace on his left knee? Was his knee bothering him Saturday? How was his confidence level during that game? Do you know exactly what is wrong with Maurer? How well is he doing in.practice? Do you know how the screws in JG's hand are effecting his play?

If you don't know any of these answers in detail or can only answer with what you've seen from your couch watching TV or what you've read on the internet, I wouldn't say it makes you look very smart either.

I don’t believe JTS was pulled for almost throwing interceptions (He did it on both of his first 2 series). In the last two games he has started one series at the beginning of every half, then JG the rest of the way.
This obviously premeditated. Since Alabubba, I think this the plan.
It makes the opponent prepare for two qbs, three if you count JJ.
It is obvious he likes what the defense is doing, what he wants out of the qb and the offense in general is no turn overs. Ride the D, play clean on O. It has worked. I think it will work 3 or 4 times.
No turnovers eh? Other than the interception JG threw in the end zone which cost us points right before the half?

Otherwise, I think your theory holds water. Pruitt clearly wants to play JG over the young ones no matter what, so I guess he thinks running Shrout out there for a series to start each half takes a little pressure off Jarrett and helps him settle down or something? Who knows. I just wish Pruitt would play Maurer and that the kid wasn’t made of glass.....not gonna get my wish on either count though.

I understand both your points.

One, we aren’t around these QBs every day in the QB room and on the practice field we don’t see what the coaches do, in depth, regarding how the guys each process information and pick up the offense....and how they lead.

On the other hand though, last week was a great opportunity to get Shrout more in-game work vs an opponent we were gonna beat no matter what. And his reasoning for benching Shrout, saying “we can’t have turnovers”, when Shrout didn’t actually turn the ball over.....in favor of JG, who did actually have a turnover, rang a little hollow to me.

Anywho, as difficult as it is at times, I’m just trying to trust Pruitt and Chaney with the QB situation because they clearly know light years better than me and all other fans regarding the situation. But at times, it’s just difficult to watch what I perceive as them not giving opportunities to QBs with more potential/higher ceilings who need to gain experience, versus running out there what has turned out to be a deeply flawed QB in JG.

I'm not arguing that we should question Pruitt by the way, I'm only questioning those that seem to know more than he does.

Not sure what you're point is when my whole point was we don't have all the information to understand why Pruitt is doing what he's doing with the QB situation. You agree, but you don't understand why he left JG in instead of letting Shrout get some more time. Maybe his knee was bothering him and Pruitt didn't want to get into it so he used the turnover excuse. I don't know, but its also not as important to me that I do know. We won and a whole new set of circumstances for us all to argue about and make up conspiracies about is two days away.

What Maurer does better than Shrout and Shrout does better than JG is throws the ball on rhythm. The hit on JG "holding the ball too long" is due to this. I didn't realize it until this season, but the young man has no rhythm to his game at all. Good QBs during practices develop that timing or ryhthm like the beat of a song in how and when to get rid of the ball. JG cannot keep a beat.

You said it!!! He has no rhythm! And why can't he it a receiver "in stride".....the receiver always has to stop and reach back for the ball....
