I don’t believe JTS was pulled for almost throwing interceptions (He did it on both of his first 2 series). In the last two games he has started one series at the beginning of every half, then JG the rest of the way.
This obviously premeditated. Since Alabubba, I think this the plan.
It makes the opponent prepare for two qbs, three if you count JJ.
It is obvious he likes what the defense is doing, what he wants out of the qb and the offense in general is no turn overs. Ride the D, play clean on O. It has worked. I think it will work 3 or 4 times.

Shrout does not get a chance. He could be as good or better than JG if given the chance. Maybe one day we will see.
Shrout consistently puts the ball in harms way which is why he does not get as many snaps. His arm talent is exceptional but he can’t be trusted as of yet. When you throw 25 ints as a H.S. senior you know there’s a lot of work to di

Just have trouble understanding his infatuation with JG, he just isn't very good and will NOT get better!?!?!

Lmao at consistently. As if he has gotten consistent opportunities to play.

The issue is that JG is still making the mistakes and throwing the interceptions. I agree with you that seems to be the strategy, just tired of seeing the 4th year QB throw off his backfoot.

Yes, JG has made two very bad turnovers and missed some opportunities. I agree upside future of both JTS and BM is higher. But in the now, in much less playing time BM has 5 turnovers. JTS in a handful of series should have that many, should have had 2 Sat.

I agree, but maybe they see him making the same mistakes in games that he’s been making in practice for 2 years, so they get him out before the opponent makes us pay.

I want to see him get meaningful playing time as much as anyone, but there’s just no way for us to know how many mistakes he’s making (or how many good plays JG is making). All we see is what happens after the snap.

Yes, but he knows we're going to need more explosive play-calling. See uscjr for example. We won't be able to run it down Kentucky's throat. Our defense will need to make KY beat us through the air, but our offense will need to be able to stay on the field against their stout defense. They are ranked in the top against the pass.

Agreed. I’m concerned that they’ll keep our offense of the field. They’ve found something with their new ground and pound offense. I know it was Missouri, but 297 yards against anyone is pretty impressive.

This defense is playing playing at a high level and the play calling has been excellent. Gets better each week. Biggest weakness is lack of depth, re: end of game Sat. Huge drop with the subs. Keep them off the field and fresh.
We’ve seen the game plan the last two weeks, smothering defense, clean on offense, no need to sling it around.

Good news is KY is more or less the same team we faced last year. If JG starts, I hope he finds his inner 2018 self. He was clutch that game.

He certainly threw a bunch of interceptions in high school.

However right now Shrout throws an int or is sacked once for every 13 and a half attempts.

Maurer throws an int or is sacked once for every 5 and a half attempts.......”attempts”

JG throws an int or is sacked once for every 9 attempts

I don’t care who the QB is as long as Tennessee wins. However I don’t see how Shrout has “ball security” problems.....,.when you look at the other two guys.

What Maurer does better than Shrout and Shrout does better than JG is throws the ball on rhythm. The hit on JG "holding the ball too long" is due to this. I didn't realize it until this season, but the young man has no rhythm to his game at all. Good QBs during practices develop that timing or ryhthm like the beat of a song in how and when to get rid of the ball. JG cannot keep a beat.

Maybe, but Maurer moves us down the field with ease. He's amazing at catching our receivers in stride and evading pressure. His mistakes mostly come at the Red-zone, as do JG's. Difference is, he's a freshman and maybe needs to tone down his impulsiveness. He has a higher ceiling. JG is just too eager, almost like "**** it, I'm gonna try this. I've done it before and pulled it off". Difference is he should know better by now.

Hey I don’t disagree with that at all.

However you can move up and down the field all day long. But when you throw an interception for every 2 and a half completions......you prob not going to beat many teams.

He can improve, and I think he will. However because of the “lackluster” QB play, Shrout “should” have been given more of an opportunity.
