I couldn’t be more proud of our Coach. Instead of diving into Xs & Os, he chose to reflect on the way that lives have been altered during this challenging time.. His opening statements focused on the big picture. He reminded us of all the trials and obstacles that were endured and conquered on the way to enabling our players, coaches, families and fans to enjoy another season of football.

Coach Pruitt spoke from the heart.

IMO - I think in this interview, we caught a glimpse of the type of coach that the players get to see. CJP didn't seem as stiff and a little more human than usual.
I think that they have people who works with the students on interviews. I was wondering why someone doesn't bring to his attention how many times he says augh. This was a great win on the road with a lots to build on. One game at a time GO VOLS!

I didn't hear him say "Aight" once. I am sure there were some speech coaches there somewhere. Next up, the "Aughs". :D

Great interview in very trying times. Just wish our OC had a clue how to call plays consistently.

Chaney can't make JG hit wide open receivers. Playcalling isn't an issue, aside from needing to run more from under center.

Exactly!!! JG was overthrowing receivers all night long, so why attempt two passes in three plays when ALL we need is ONE first down for a Win? Incredulous call playing, esp with our OLine and Tandem RBs.

Are you serious Clark? Chaney called a solid game. The guys were in position to make plays and utilized in creative ways. Gitmo had time to read the field and had open receivers and running backs had lanes. Gitmo just missed. Hopefully it was just first game jitters and he settles down. If not, start someone else and bring him in off the bench.

Good to see a little of his personal side. It's really hard to listen to some of that, though. He says it's "inspiring" to see the athletes having the courage to get tested three times a week, stay in their rooms all the time, not do normal things that college students do, and endure the mental health effects of the restrictions. To me, it's incredibly sad and frustrating that they are being so needlessly put in those positions.

End of game play calling was 100% don’t let Gitmo screw this up. We have seen it before.

Managed to work politics into a post game coach interview thread.

Amazing, and sad.

Friend, what is your logic on saying "needlessly put in this position"?

He might not be able to make JG hit wide open receivers, but he should know by now the changes are not that good. Adjust accordingly !

Agreed. At the end of the day, win or lose, Coach Pruitt loves these kids as much as he loves the game.

It was interesting to me that after his comments post game, he seemed to seek out several players on the SC team and speak with them, Probably players that he has recruited for UT and had a previous relationship with.

“Needlessly” is clearly a political statement these days. COVID protocols are what they are. I believe they serve a purpose, you do not. Either way, can we discuss football??

Good press conference. He seems like a genuine guy. I also liked what the announcers said near the end of the game. They said that CJP was '...the most candid coach they have ever interviewed. And it's not even close.' I think he just says what he thinks. It seems to me that when he speaks, he is really speaking from the heart. That how he comes across to me, anyway.
