Not a real grammer correct guy but here we go! First off the prior two coaches did not leave a good taste in these recruits parents mouth as well as players.
For coach Jones to have to repair relationships enough to even get in the homes of these kids says enough about what he can do.
Track record shows he can coach kids up and we weren't that far off last year from having a 9 - 3 season with a coach that could coach players up to their potential.
If Coach can get us to a bowl get our brand out there and show that this ship is headed in the right direction we will be in the top 10 to top 7 next year.
You have to have relationships with families, these are their kids so what do you think a relationsip with a guy for weeks or a guy for a couple of years.
The ground work has been laid and we will be fine!!

Considering the Vols' record over the past 3 years and a regime change, a Top 25 class is not bad at all.

Thank you, I am pleased as well. I think Coach Jones did everything in his power to sign the class that he did. Signing is only half the work though. I will be more interested to see how the team looks for the Spring game and how they progress through the summer.

I challenge you statistics junkies on VN to find the highest rated recruiting class for 2013 that has an overall loosing record from 2008 to 2012.

I will be surprised if you can find a better recruiting class based on the circumstances we have endured. That would put into perspective how CBJ did with the cards he was dealt.

Jones was very gracious in the press conference to talk about how "easy to sell" the UT brand is. Truth is four championships in six years as a head coach is allot easier to sell than one winning season in the last five years of the UT football program.

Yes we loose Patteson, Hunter and Bray but we have to be honest, we left a lot out there on the field. We have addressed our needs, speed on D, depth at OL. This team we already have has talent. Bray and Hunter love them to death and hope they do well but between chemistry drive or something cost us a few games. I really believe in that we will be a team that will be hard to handle and we will win a game or two finally that we are not supposed to. Then that will bring in the recruits!! Not worried about the work this staff will put in we just have to let them do there thing.

His ground work had to start somewhere and look what he has done. Like the title says though "his process" is kinda selling it self and those trophies help a lot!!

Coach Jones went after several top players in a very short time and got them to believe in Tennessee, so we believed in them. That's not a bad thing at all; it's just disappointing when they did not believe as much as we did.

Then there is the whole money thing from boosters. At some schools, the pay for play money is way over the top. Look what happened at Auburn. Everybody knew, and the ncaa did nothing. Remember what happened to Fulmer after bammer got busted? Not that any school is squeaky clean, but it does take a lot to overcome the disadvantages against people that crooked.

Just looking at the class seems to be a solid class!! Not to mention when Coach says he expects all to be enrolled by June, that is huge. No surprises, solid class of kids that can come in a contribute.

I read here alot but do not post. I am a VFL and I am amazed at all of the negative posts. In 8 short weeks CBJ has according to rivals given us a top 20 class. Short of a miracle I would have to say this was a job well done. We should be thankful that he has worked his butt off as hard as he has just to get us to this point. Let the man coach the talent he has now and I am sure there will be more talent in the future. Boise State doesn't recruit 4* or 5* players and yet they play with the best teams in the country. TCU isn't known for grabbing the best talent in the world but they seem to do fairly well. A coach can make average to above average talent great if they play as a team. In short, if you can't handle the ride get out of the boat.

This staff worked their butts off for two months. Things didn't work out completely like they wanted to but they did flip about 8 or 9 to become Vols. I do appreciate the hard work and can understand why the bigger recruits didn't choose us. Its a lot easier to jump on the bandwagon of teams who are on top than to be one who wants to resurrect one. A wining season and a bowl game will mean a lot to next years recruiting class cause they will see that these guys can coach. Unlike CDD and Sal.

what the hell is this hard work thing? All are on the road for the month leading up to signing day. ALL of them because they are compensated massively to avoid having recruiting classes that can't compete with their opponents. See, that loses them their employment status. Hard work isn't a differentiator in the coaching business. Closing deals and coaching to wins is the difference.

I'm behind CBJ & staff 100%! Good class, these kids wanted to wear Orange screw those who didn't! Stop whining and get on board or get to stepping. We got a coach that knows how to win how many of these so-called 5* primadonna players pan out? CBJ will coach them up and WE WILL WIN!

Its a hard road ahead.
CBJ has an uphill battlefor the 1st 2 years.
There are so many self entitled fans, that are all about throwing the baby out with the bath water. A good 25% of the posters on here are crybabies. You have to look at recruiting like people choosing between 2 busses. 1 everyone is saying we are going to get there 1st. The other, 25% are saying the bus is going to crash again.
Is it any wonder some choose to wait on the bus that gets there 1st.
The funny thing is ones that were yelling crash, are the one pissed that noone is choosing to ride with us.
Winning starts with Believing you are going to win. You can have all the talent in the world, and if you don't believe (USCw) then you fail..

I don't know how "proud" I am of coach Jones. He pretty much did the bare minimum today. I guess I am proud he didn't totally screw it up like Dooley did, but then again it goes back to the whole expectations thing. I expect a lot better than Dooley and I expect better than what Coach Jones did today.

No offense but what exactly did coach Jones do today? He got 21 teenagers to sign a LOI to play football at UT. The teenagers that didn't choose UT made a decision to play elsewhere. The man had 8 weeks to go out and get what he could. These other teenagers had relationships with these other schools for a year or more in most cases. Was he suppose to hold them at gunpoint and force then to sign here? Get real.

last sentence absolute truth. college football coaching is a brutal business. thats why coaches are multi millionairs. however, i do appreciate the effort the staff put in, but results > effort.
