he is the only player that really makes me nervous when we play bama...

he is the most electric guy on the field and you have to double team him...

all we have to do to win is stuff darby and get after croyle...(his mullet will slow him down...)

im glad that prothro is not playing but, i hope he has a good recovery and that he is doing okay....

I agree with your assessment that Protho is the most dynamic element of the Bama offense, but I disagree about his not playing.

I always like to play a team with their best players on the field.

When we won the NC in the 99 Fiesta bowl, all you heard was "Our 2nd team QB was playing." They never mentioned that the best running back in UT history was out for UT. Jamal Lewis is the only UT RB who has ever won an NFL rushing award.

I wish Protho was playing so they won't have any excuses after we take them to the woodshed in Neyland South, aka Bryant Denny Stadium.

I thought we won the 1998 National Championship, but the 1999 Fiesta Bowl?

Yes. The Fiesta Bowl for the 98 season was played January 4, 1999.

The Sugar Bowl for the 1999 MNC game was January 4, 2000

We won the 98 championship by winning the 99 Fiesta Bowl.

Confused?

Kind of funny, we can't figure out which year we won a Natl' Ship...

Im not confused a bit. The Fiesta Bowl hosted the first ever MNS BCS game. They did it in the 1998 Season. The game was played in Jan. 1999.

Just like this year. The 2005 MNC BCS game will be played January 4th, 2006.

My friend sent me a pic today of Prothro's injury. It is the worst thing I have EVER seen.

A guy on another board asked where a pic of it was. Another guy just posted the pic right there on the forum. It made more than a few of us sick

Prothro was a class act and an excellent player. Best of luck in the future and he will have my prayers for a speedy recovery. That had to be one of the most disturbing breaks I have seen. Its right up there with McGhee (sp?) and Joe Theisman.

Yeah, it looked pretty bad. I just hope the kid can come back with no ill effects. I'd hate to hear another story like the one kid that came back a couple of seasons ago with a prosthetic leg.

I just can't believe that he'll ever be able to come back from something as horrible as that. The tissue damage has to be incredible. I just hope he is able to take advantage of the free education and be successful.

A Bama fan friend of mine told me last night that they put a cast on him and that it was a "clean break" so he doesn't have to have surgery. I guess it looked worse than it really was.

ya, but as long as he is not playing on the field against us that is all that matters...

Come on now, you are talking about a kids future here. Besides dont you want to say that you got a teams best effort and still beat them.
