Pros and Cons of continuing or dumping Checkered Neyland.

I say once a year and make it the same game each time. That way, it doesnt appear as a gimmick to sike the team up or whatever if its before a big game, just designate it so it feels more like tradition. Whether it be against the first or last SEC home game, or against whichever West opponent is at home.

Do it once a year and keep it fan driven. The coaches and AD don't need to be involved. It looks awesome and ther majority of fans love it.

I'd do it for Florida and Georgia. The are home games on alternating years. Either that or do it for homecoming.

Other than to try and sell more merchandise, don't know why they swapped colors? At the 2015 Oklahoma game Y6 was white, then last year's Georgia game the section was orange.

It looks great on TV, but then seems like a gimmick when we lose.

i was fine with the home crowd and atmostphere before checker neyland, and i would be after it as well.

that said, i do think it's pretty damn cool. if you don't like it, that's fine. where the opposite color you're supposed to in the seating chart.

lol.

It’s awe inspiring. Sure it’s a gimmick, but what’s not a gimmick?

Why else should we pitch out?

Vol walk?
Rocky Top?
Running thru the T?
Orange?
The trash can?
VFL?
The Pride of the Southland Band?
Painting the Rock?
Walking Horses at Homecoming?

I think it looks great. So much better than the stripes OU does.
The trash can IS out --------------- forever

I’m pretty sure Georgia retired it last year. Every school does it now and it’s old now. It was cool and had its moment but let’s just be Tennessee again. The fans started it and it has nothing to do with butch but it sure smells a lot like butch. Let it die.

Doug Dickey was not only a good coach and AD but was very instrumental in establishing traditions we still hold dear and have been copied by many other teams. That said, I'd rather we become a force to be reckoned with again on the field before we attempt to intimidate other teams with our home field extra activities. I think we look silly checkering the stadium and then get our tails handed to us by the opponent. My 2 cents.

I am tired of the gimmicks, field a good team then think of gimmicks. We should be talking about basketball gimmicks, like renaming Thompson-Boling the Slaughterhouse!

As a Georgia fan I realize my opinion is not valued here, but I have always thought the checker boarding was pretty impressive. Plus, it was initiated by the fans, similar to the cell phone light up Sanford Stadium at the beginning of each fourth quarter.

Too many Bama fans show up for our home game so it should alternate between Florida and Georgia every year.

Add Smokey to that list. A blue tick hound doesn't exactly exemplify fear and has zero to do with "volunteering" for anything.

just a joke BTW. Love smokey.

I was getting ready to jump all over yo ass about Smokey:)
