Props to Medley

I like the kid, but let's face it. He's getting a full ride to do A JOB!!!...kick off and more importantly kick FGs! No kicker's gonna hit them all...and the kid had a good second half of the season, but he failed in the most pivotal spots of the season. I'm not gonna pat him on the back for being more consistent the last 5 games. I EXPECT an SEC kicker to be that consistent ALL season.
I guess your criteria means not a single VOL gets a pat on the back this season?

Ummm.....not sure where you're going with your statement? I don't think I ever suggested that. The team/coaches need a big pat for the way they finished the season. I thought we were talking about early season struggles/inconsistencies of our kicker in pivotal games.

Wilhoit over Medley bc he beat FL with a 50+ yarder when Medley was wide right. LACES OUT DAN! I kid, he is becoming a weapon.

Very nice turn around for sure. Debord finally got tired to tying to fix his footwork.

And the defense has ONE JOB and that's to tackle a guy, which all 11 failed to do against Oklahoma and Florida. They failed too, correct?

Medley cost us the game against Oklahoma. You can blame others but if he hits that chip shot, we win that one. I don't blame him for Florida, but he did miss, and we did lose because of that miss. He cost us some points against Bama that very well could of helped us win the game.

Oh, sorry I'm being a negavol. Let's continue to blindly praise this kid for trying his best.

thank the gods ur not my role model

You know, in a post a month or two ago I said Medley should try to picture the offensive linemen nude when he was kicking field goals.

He must read this forum because after that post he started making them.

So he single footedly relinquished the leads by a Missed chip shot 48yd FG vs OU blowing the lead and Missed saving a blown lead with a 55yd FG vs UF.
And he made kicks in meaningless games vs USCjr and Mizzou that helped to keep the team from going into the Vandy game to become bowl eligible.
Now that is some funny stuff right there. [lol]

He also finished the regular season 2nd in the SEC in scoring (behind Henry) You know those numbers on the scoreboard that helps win games.

He is also 7 points from breaking UT kick scoring record in the history of the VOLS.

Props to Medley!!!!

To say his miss cost us the game is an ignorant point of view. Why not blame someone that missed a tackle? Or that a linemen missed a block? Or the quarterback that missed a receiver...or a running back that missed a cut back. This is a team game and to lay everything at the feet of one kid simply because he had the last opportunity is foolish. Did he have the chance to overcome the entire teams mistakes throughout the game? Sure. But he certainly isn't the reason we lost.

It's pretty ignorant to ignore the fact that he missed the most important kicks he had and start a thread praising him

This is not golf or racquet ball, team sports rely on the whole team. So many opportunities to win the 4 we didn't. Be mad at who you want to be, but it was a team effort and results that left us wanting the wins even more.

Bring on NW.

6 in a row!

Go Vols!

Good on him for not letting things spiral out of control.

But yeah, he has some serious work to do if we're going to make a run next season. Kid needs to get to work and stay there until he's consistently nailing FGs from all over the field.

Well. Wherever you get your motivation, I guess. I'm cool with that.

I'm proud of Butch for saying the boy is our kicker.

Players don't quit on Butch.

He sure did. Good thing nobody stuck a mic in front of my face at the time Butch said that. May be why I need to keep my day job.

Butch, reminds me of Les Miles in the way that his players seem to love playing for the guy. Right there is a good reason.

Guy has an incredible leg. If he can just stay accurate he has an NFL future

He really does. Several times this season he appeared to rush his kicks too fast. At least that's what my untrained eye was seeing.

If he is able to relax and let his talent take over next season. Watch out.

i am sorry for the way it sounds but i dont say im sorry for defending this kid for doing something anyone of us fanatics cant do but we can blame these kids because they did not do it when it matters.

I'll be honest. My numbers past 40 could easily be better than his.
