Props for Jarrett and Swain w/ Keaton

It should also be easy for you to find it. Its not my job to post links for things easily found.

The flag stuff was screenshotted before she wiped the page. People who followed the story have documented that she talked of her son using the n-word on her page. All her post were not captured before she took them down.

How long does it take to get a screen shot? You believe people got screens of the flag but not her admission that her son used the N word and was bullied as a result? :eek:lol:

This. The rebel flag stuff blew up all over social media. I would think people would have screenshots of the n word stuff. This is the weirdest story in a long time. It went from “bullying is wrong!” And now adults are bashing the kid online because his mom

This is the photo that has gone viral that supposedly shows her racism.

I don’t see anything racist but then again I associate the rebel flag with southern pride as do many southerners. That flag was adopted as something southerners could rally behind since much of the time we are stereotyped as racist, ignorant, uneducated Hicks.

No it wasn't. It was literally adopted to instill fear in blacks and the idea white supremacy. That is why it disappeared after the war. It was only trotted back out by white supremacists when black started fighting for civil rights.

Not knowing the history of the flag is the lack of education and ignorance that you claim it fights against.

This is literally in any college history book that covers U.S. History. Some people are just ignorant or ignore facts.

I'm trying to figure out why the mom started a Gofundme page? I had a former coworker like her he is always begging for money and blaming others for his own troubles...he still owes me 10 bucks...He said his brother died so everyone pinched in money to help him out...I felt betrayed....I feel bad for Keaton

I have no doubt some took it as a racist symbol and viewed it as such.

But I also know many people adopted it for southern pride and it had nothing to do with racism whatsoever. In fact, I recall asking a black friend of mine who said he was offended by the confederate flag. I asked if he was offended by it before the hoopla about it started a few years ago, he admitted it hadn’t bothered him before.

Few people were offended by it until someone told them that they were.

Mom didn’t start the page. Some other people did.

This kid wasn’t bullied. The black kids in his class beat him up because he kept calling them the N word. He was shaking because he was justifiably afraid. Family pulled the pity card and got 57K because her son got deservedly beat up.

Not the kids fault of course. Pretty sure he was just doing what his parents taught him but still. 57K for being beat up. You know how rich I’d be if i got that much for every fight i lost as a kid?
Have you been out to Maynardville lately?

It’s not her account. Someone posed as her to get a payday. Keaton’s sister has said that account is not theirs and that they are not asking for money.

That kind of crap makes me very leary of the gofundme things -- only a matter of time before the Government wants a cut from them

Bottom line

Keatons mom might be or might not be a racist, I don't know her. Not enough proof for me with only a pic of her with a confederate flag.

Keaton has been bullied, the video was proof enough for me

JG and Swain helped Keaton with a little VOL love.

It's been racist. People just actually acknowledge the truth now instead of falling for propaganda or remaining quiet.

The mom had a ton of racist posts on her Facebook and acknowledged that Keaton called some kids the n-word. When the media picked up on it she locked her Facebook.

Sounds like he was the real bully and didn't like it when the kids he bullied fought back. Just like most bullies.

The rebel flag is not racist. Someone can make it racist by combining it with various racist stuff but the flag absolutely is not racist.

You were there to witness this or saw it on fake accounts? Highly doubt that was the case.

Not sure how waving a Confederate flag makes someone racist. I personally don't own one but that definitely doesn't make anyone racist. That would be like saying going to an all black college makes someone racist or being against bi-racial dating makes you racist. None of the 3 make you racist. But regardless that still doesn't take away from the child being bullied.
Pretty sure being anti biracial dating = racist. Flags and HBCUs are probably aight depending on your circle.

I had one when I was a kid. No idea where it is now. Frankly context needs to be applied with its display in my opinion but modern culture labels it as a racist symbol.

The “confederate battle flag” or the “Southern Cross” is not the national flag of the confederate nation. It is the flag wielded by the confederate army in combat. A common display is the flag wielded by a grizzled confederate soldier with the caption “forget hell...” as a protest statement to the heavy handed administration of the southern states after the war.

Upon the rise of the Klu Klux Klan or KKK they used the battle flag along with the US flag as their symbols and this is the beginning of the modern context for its being a racist symbol.

Many don’t realize that the Swatistika was hijacked by the National Socialists ie the Nazi party from it’s initial display. And that symbol is outlawed by many countries to this day. Some argue the Battle flag is headed to a similar fate.

In my opinion context should apply. But in the Internet age context quickly gets lost. And if it’s being wielded by a bunch of white guys wearing white robes and hoods you really don’t need an explanation. And I would never tell a person of color they have no right to be outraged by its display. Even though I don’t feel outrage by its display. That’s just my personal response.

Edit: as someone pointed out the battle flag is the southern cross not the stars and bars while I routinely confuse them myself still

There has been debates over this forever. It's just as plausible that it was meant to represent southern heritage and not racism. There's absolutely no clear and definitive answer either way. I highly doubt Ole Miss used it as a mascot for as long as they did for it to have a racist meaning to it. Just like calling a white person a cracker isn't racist. Too many sensitive people these days and trying to use it as an excuse to have a cause.

That wasn't true. She never created one.

Very sure being against bi-racial dating isn't racist. It's personal choice for everyone. Just because someone doesn't believe in bi-racial or same sex marriage doesn't make them racist or a sexest. Now if they were part of hate groups or were violent towards either that's a completely different story.

Just because some are ignorant of the true meaning of something, it doesn't mean what it actually is changes.

There is a historical record that documents the reemergence of the flag. Just because some have fallen for propaganda doesn't change fact.

Being against ir relationships definitely means you are racist. No matter what race you happen to be.

You don't have to be in a hate group or literally hate another race to be racist. There are many forms of racism. You could not hate a group, but feel your race is superior in culture or intelligence. No you aren't a KKK terrorist attacking people, but still an ignorant racist.
