DL- Sentimore, McCullers, Couch, Smith
LB- Maggitt, Lathers, Johnson
DB- Lanier, Coleman, Brewer, Waggner

This would work, but we'll be running a 3-4.

DE: Sentimore, and two of the following: Miller, Bohannon, Walls, Hood
NT/DT: Couch and McCullers
LB: Smith (I think he gets moved to OLB, he won't be big enough to handle DE in the 3-4), Lathers, Johnson, Maggit
CB: Lanier, Moore
S: Waggner, McNeil (Yes, I think he is that good to earn a spot in the starting line-up).

Note: We might interchange Moore and Waggner.

Yeah, I think Waggner will get the nod over Moore. JMO.

What about Jordan Williams he should be a factor this year

If McNeil's good enough to start, then I think Waggner will be back to corner over one of the JUCOs. I don't see anyone keeping Randolph off the field.

Probably a good point. I think Lanier will be sacrificed from the line-up. Waggner to CB. He finished this last season strong there. Randolph at FS.

I don't know exactly the lineup but that is looking much improved. Depending whether they start 4-3 or 3-4....some combination of 11 of these 14 guys...

Couch
McCullers
Sentimore
J Smith (going to come back strong this year!)
Curt
Big Herman
AJ
Santos
Waggner
Brewer
Randolph
Lanier / Coleman / Moore...(hard to call)

I agree 100% about J. Smith...saw him play in HS at Ooltewah--Kid's a natural OLB in the 3-4 who has been playing out of position in the 4-3...I'd put him on the weak side so he will have more freedom to make plays and pressure the QB...I also think we'll see the advantages of having a DC who genuinely knows how to be creative and pressure the QB this fall...(he will also have better talent than CJW did)

surprised no one has mentioned C Harris.

My guess would be:

DL - Sentimore, Couch, McCullers
LB - AJ, Maggitt, Smith, Lathers ( could see Harris getting run here if Smith performs poorly with Lathers going outside and harris inside)
DB - Lanier, Moore, Randolph, Waggner ( would be awesome if we could get Coleman in as the nickel back and not have to depend on him but I def see him getting a lot of PT)

These are all just guesses of course...

Misplaced as it is, no wonder this thread is in the Recruiting Forum (under 50 posts). In the Football Forum, this thread would endure what a cow experiences in The Amazon River a la piranhas!

Here's your winner.... though I think Miller, Walls, and Bohannon will all push to start opposite Sentimore.

DL: Couch, McCullers, Sentimore

LBs: AJ, Maggitt, then whoever else

DBs: CBs Waggner and battle between Bonner(he'll be given every chance to play early), Moore, Coleman, Lanier

S: Randolph and McNeil(I think he's that good)

I don't think anyone has even mentioned Eric Gordon. I think he will have a say in this when it's all said and done. Man this defense is seriously starting to shape up. We will still have to rely on some freshman, but not nearly as much as last year. Which is a really good thing. The future is almost blinding me.

He can't play well past 10 yards from the line. So uh yeah that's all but over as a starter. He'll factor in something like a J.Arenas role. Blitzing from the nickel when he's in.

OLB- Smith/Peters

DL- Sentimore, McCullers, Couch, Smith
LB- Maggitt, Lathers, Johnson
DB- Lanier, Coleman, Brewer, Waggner

What I love most about that front 7 is how versatile it is.

3-4/4-3
WE/SE-Sentimore
NT/DT-McCullers
SE/DT-Couch
WLB/WLB-Maggit
SLB/WE-Smith

JLB/SLB-Johnson
MLB/MLB-Lathers

I think Obrien will play SE in our 3-4 and 3 tech DT in our 4-3. Clark is who I expect to be the third team nose, based on his size alone. I could also see Couch getting a few snaps there in relief of McCullers because our depth is better at DE in the 3-4 than it is at NT.

Yeah, that probably makes sense, and thats what I struggled with the most honestly.

Placing Obrien is tough. I think he could easily end up as an end.

The 3-4 on paper I really like our starters and depth outside of Safety..

Yeah that's something he needs to work on. But I just think, as an upperclassmen he'll get a shot.

Well our safety depth would be the same in a 3-4, but I actually think our DB depth is great this year.
