Projected depth chart vs. Bowling Green

This I totally agree with. Wanya Morris never set the world on fire here living up to his high ⭐️ rating. Maybe it was $#!T coaching for sure but he was beat a lot.
Eric Gray was a fun to watch RB sure…but Small/Evans/Wright have great power, wiggle, & speed so he will not be missed. Eric Gray wasn’t Charlie Garner, Travis Henry/Stephens, Reggie Cobb, John Kelly, or Alvin Kamara after all. Now you factor in a behemoth QB at 6’5” 245lbs that runs a 4.6 40 in Milton or Hooker that has a Josh Dobbs type skill set….and throw Dee Beckwith back there as another battering ram…Eric Gray who?
Some of the same posters mourning his absence, meh’d his presence for two seasons. He got a lot of mileage out of that Vandy game.

I'm not sure how athletically gifted he is, but I don't think his size (6'3" 300) is that much of an issue. He's just a hair lighter than Alabama's center but same height (6'3" 305). He's shorter but heavier than LSU's center (6'5" 285). And not that much smaller than Georgia's (6'4" 305). He may not be as talented or athletically gifted, but I'm not convinced of the size argument (with all due respect).

I haven't seen any reports out of camp that he might be an issue at C, and no talks about him not being good enough to play at this level. Elerbee has him in the starting lineup for a reason, and I'd think he'd have taken him out if his talent/capability was in question.

not knocking anyone here but

Coop might be pretty good at calling the blocking schemes vs the other dudes

just saying

Go Vols !

He would being more athleticism than anyone there now. There aren’t any difference makers at the position. I think he would be.
Trinity Bell is 6' 7". and played WR in HS; his knee is just about ready to go full pads, not to mention Julian Nixon who also played WR in HS. Maybe I'm a little partial to Bell since he grew up only about 20 minutes from me, but you gotta love his size.

You may be right. But we know Jones and Hyatt are two starters. So the only question is the 3rd starter. I’ve seen Payton projected by some as a starter because this offense places a premium on speed (which Payton has and Tillman doesn’t have) and because Payton has run first team a lot in practice. So I could’ve put either one as the starter there.

Again, you could be right and Tillman may start. But it’s at least debatable, given where Payton has run in practice.
Tillman has separated himself from everyone else imo. Sheer alpha level aka Jauan. Whoever’s throwing the ball is going to look his direction first…for very good reason.

QB Milton 6'4 240
RB Small 5'10 205
WR Tillman 6'3 212
WR Jones 6'0 190
SL Hyatt 6'0 175
LT Wright 6'7 326
LG Carvin 6'5 310
C Mays 6'2 290
RG Spraggins 6'3 320
RT Mays 6'6 320
TE Fant 6'2 235

DE Butler 6'4 290
DT Solomon 6'4 310
DT Thomas 6'4 300
LEO Barron 6'5 265
LB Mitchell 6'2 228
LB Banks 6'2 230
ST Slaughter 5'10 190
SS Flowers 5"11 200
FS Tank 6'0 210
RCB Burrell 6'1 185
LCB Taylor 6'0 190

It's a solid lineup but, are there any of these players even picked for 3rd team all SEC? Some may just be unproven but have the potential for greatness. However, especially on the defensive side of the ball, there don't appear to be a lot of explosive playmakers or potential high round draft picks.
Reminds me of the 1985 team when our defense was mostly unknown and played as a team and not a bunch of individuals. We had fan favorites but no one highly acclaimed.

Seems to me that "starter" doesn't matter at WR because so many will be cycled through. Not like O line or QB, which are relatively stable throughout the game. First play, third play, it doesn't matter when you get in for a wide receiver. It's more about how many plays you play. Is there any validity to that or does it make a difference who starts?

I think there it plenty of validity to that. Especially given the pace of this offense, WRs will rotate in and out frequently and situationally.

Looks like we will lose Harrison Bailey if this depth chart holds through the season. Maybe we can still swing Ty Simpson it Arch.
