Progress?

Look at our record for the last decade. Progress? Absolutely. The man took the job when it was a complete dumpster fire and gave his all to rebuild it to where we are relevant again. Will he make us elite? Will next year be better ? Probably not, but we owe him respect for what he's done.
I think he has made decisions that have had a positive impact on the program. I also think he's lost any credibility he ever banked in the eyes of fans, football analysts, rankings contributors. His system his coaches his players favorable schedule his year, failure. Yes the injuries were unprecedented in number but his damage control is non existent, no plan b, his command is visibly in ruins. He had his shot, next page.

He shouldn't be laughing. This is where he was at the end. Kiffin, Dooley, and probably Jones have not been the tow truck.... but they aren't the ones who drove the bus into the ditch.

I getcha, and agreed. If you go back (if you can go that far), you'll see that I agreed with replacing Fulmer. I just didn't care for the manner in which it was done.

My point being that, depending on where you draw the "Fulmer Line", UT is no better...or even worse...than they were during the end of Fulmer's reign. For instance:

- Lyle is 29-21 in 4 years at UT. Fulmer was 29-21 in his last 4 years at UT.

- In the 8 seasons since Fulmer was fired, UT has gone 51-48 (.510). In Fulmer's last 8 seasons, he went 68-34 (.660).

That kinda puts it in perspective for me. It was time for Fulmer to go. Unfortunately, UT football is no better off now than it was then. Better talent is worthless if it doesn't produce results.

Go Vols.

Please. Fulmer vs the field of coaches we could have gotten in 2008 was clearly towards Fulmer. Not one coach we interviewed was better. The change in coaches was only because Hamilton wanted a culture/environment change. An AD with actual coaching or team experience knows that.

Your mentality of we don't owe him crap is exactly why TN had to hire him in the first place.

I forget that in the fantasy land many of volnation live in, all the top coaches were fighting to get the TN job.

All it takes is money!
