..Please take the time to post your grade (to date) for the coaching staff as a whole. A+,A,A-,B+,B,B-....ect For the sake of the thread, please assume the following things : 1)its year 1. 2) They inherited their depleted roster of 65 scholly guys. 3) Its their 1st year together (for the most part) Use whatever criteria you deem important, and please give the reasoning behind your grade. Thanks and hope it can help Candy week go by a little quicker........

B+

They have beat and lost to who everyone was expecting them to and showing more and more promise as the season goes along

B+..... a ton of naysayers were arguing 2 or 3 weeks ago that Ole Miss was looking like a definite loss...... where are those people now?

Stay on track homie, please. Why B+? Feel free to elaborate? (Not jumping on you, just sayin, you didn't even give 1 reason. Smh)

C+. The LSU game alone makes a B too high of a grade IMO. The coaches are keepers, and I am excited about the future despite my low grade.

Look back at some posts after the Bama loss..... people had us finishing the season at 4-8 or 3-9. How many people feel confident about those numbers now? My point is that we have shown steady improvement throughout the season.... I thought that was insinuated in my post.

I give them a solid B. The wins and losses are about what is expected all things considered. I like they way they brought Bray along and I like that we have improved in certain aspects of special teams play, penalties, etc. I like that we have brought our third down conversion percentage WAY up since the beginning of the season. I like that though the team has struggled in the second half of games they have never given up on the season. I like that they have creatively used our personnel to cover our gaps in manpower. I like that Coach Dooley hasn't just thrown out a lot of coach-speak at his pressers but calls it as he sees it.

My only disappointment was the UGA game. We just didn't show, but I'm sure that was the emotional draining of the week before hanging over.

All in all, I think the staff has done more than most would have done under similar circumstances.

WVvol, good points and good post. Thank you. Let WV's post (not ideas) be an example to follow.

I'd give them a B-/C+. They've had a lot of personnel issues to deal with and I think they've finally nailed down a good depth chart that will get them through the rest of the season. Both the offense and the defense took about half the year to get the hang of the playbook, and that's on the coaching staff mostly but youth played a big part too. All in all, it was a pretty good year considering the mess they had to clean up. They are right on line with most fan's expectations. Just keep the recruiting machine going and good things will come.

I am going to say a C+.

Earlier I would have said a D to D- with the LSU game debacle, giving up 487 sacks in the first 7 or 8 games, too many men on the field penalties, getting caught with their pants down on the fake punt in the Florida game, various second half meltdowns, etc..

I am just darn glad to see a young team getting better and Simm's arse on the bench. I think they have turned the corner and are improving. If they win out and finish 6-6 and get bowl eligible, then I would grade a B.

B- or maybe a B

We've made some mistakes but we have shown a lot of steady improvement. I don't really like to point to LSU as a big mistake though because I know the sports down there and I know there is a lot of corruption with the refs. (In reference to the final minute of the game) Yeah we messed up at the end but there were mistakes made on both sides and the refs only called it on us to favor LSU. That's a fact.

We've lost to the teams we were supposed to lose, we just didn't have the experience to beat them but some of those games should have been closer but weren't because of the second half collapse. The staff might finally be getting on to that problem.

Now if we were giving this grade right after the UAB game it would be a lot lower because that game was a mess. However after the Ole Miss game, it was the opposite, it should have been closer but it wasn't because we played some darn good football. Seems like we've been learning from our mistakes earlier.

If we continue to play like we did on Saturday and win a bowl game then I'd be willing to bump this grade up to a B+

With the level of improvement I have been seeing, I can't wait to see 2011.

B. Considering the lack of depth and talent on this team they've done well with this team. The 2nd half meltdowns are a big red flag to me, especially the 3rd quarter vs. Alabama. There was no reason for them to give up a 4 play scoring drive right after halftime. I think that was on the coaches.

Alot of the 3rd down improvement has to do with the insertion of Bray and the benching of Simms and also Gerald Jones being healthy. I agree with that statement though.

I think they have done a good job of pulling players out of the air like Rivera and Brewer that have turned out to be pretty solid in year one(which is impressive).

C.....the epiphany that Bray is the better QB took too long. If Bray had played, not started, against LSU we win by 7.

C plus right now. If TN wins out and wins the bowl and secures a top 15 recruiting class the grade could go as high as B plus given what they were dealt when they came in.

no way Coach Dooley puts young Gumby-esque Gunslinger Bray through the gauntlet of the October schedule, it just wasnt going to happen. Simms got to be the tackling dummy while Bray wrapped his mind around the playbook and got better.
