I think we can all agree that Butch has deficiencies. I think his most crippling error in his four years has been putting all his eggs in the Josh Dobbs basket. Dobbs simply is not an SEC (or mid-major) caliber quarterback. He does a couple things well, but your primary task as a QB is always going to be reading defenses and throwing the ball. If a kid can't throw with any kind of accuracy as a sophomore and junior, he's not going to be able to miraculously do it as a senior. I would be shocked if we don't have at least two QBs (probably three) on the roster with infinitely more potential than Dobbs. Part of it was the timing of the situation. Dobbs was there at the time, RF left, there was no one else. By the time we had more QBs on the roster, Dobbs had so much experience than anyone else, Butch was afraid to seriously consider other options. You can have all the talent in the world, but when you have a liability at the most important position on the field, you're going to be limited in what you can accomplish.

I agree. Dobbs is over thinking everything which is causing him to throw a half a second late on any route over 8-9 yards. He is not super accurate to begin with. The O-Line is better suited for the spread running game. All that makes for a crap passing game. A lot of folks are blaming DeBoard, but I am sure no coach calls for holding the ball too long then throwing it in the dirt or behind the receiver.

Good coaches evaluate and fix the issue(s). If a player is not performing as needed then find one that can.
