I am not going into a tirade because we won, however I hate prevent defenses. Causes teams to give up chunks of yardage and as we witnessed twice in the last 2 years yields TD's. I am pissed at Foreman for quiting on the play but that is what prevents have the potential to do.

We ran a man cover 2...far from a prevent. Had our guy not stopped he would have been in position to make a defensive play. We complain about our coaches being conservative and then when they aren't we still complain. Players have to execute the plays the coaches call. Cover 2 man isn't conservative in that situation imo

We were not in a prevent, in fact it was the opposite. Our man got beat, that's it. Shouldn't have happened but it did.

But didn't we play prevent in allowing them to get in that position from their own 25?

Cover 2 man. And yes foreman got beat along with our safety tkj. Hopefully we get to see the master of prevent at work next week Chavis!

I didn't think it was prevent D but I was watching on my phone with a tiny screen so not seeing it as well as normal.

Still disappointing though how our D just seemed to fold there at the end. Worst D of the season when the game was on the line. Just hard to keep that mental edge for the whole game. That was really the only time in the game I was disappointed in the Vols or doubted they would win. I hope its something they learn from and grow from. Gonna need it next week at A&M.

It seems everyone except the top guy is aware and f the defense we are running. So must to you be an ass to everyone?

Not sure why but foreman just quit on that play he had him covered till the end

He underestimated the QB's arm. The reciever slowed and so did he, I'm glad it didn't cost us the game.

Almost too many mistakes to overcome, just keep learning and winning.

Go Vols!

I hated giving up the points and yards that we did but UGA has good players too. At the end of the day our Defense gave up less points than UGA

Look at the replay closely in slow mo, Foreman slowed and looked back at the ball because the receiver slowed. If he had run over him it could have been interference. Only took a split second of hesitation to make the difference between great coverage and a TD

Seemed to me we were not in a "formal prevent", however our d-line seemed to me, by design or otherwise to be somewhat in a contain posture. Ga. was in pass only situation as far as I could tell and our best effort to rush the qp. seem to be a little passive.

As others have said, we were far from a prevent defense. We were very aggressive, rushing 4, going for the INT, in Cover 2. A couple times we almost got the INT, and that took our players out of the tackle and allowed their WR to pick up additional yards. Far, far from prevent defense.

That would have been an acceptable penalty because 15 would have been better than 6.

Now after having said that, I would not change the outcome of this game for anything in the world, except maybe world domination. But other than that....

You guys are right about what we were playing at the time of the TD so I stand corrected. But ga moved 75 yards in less than a minute to get that score. Maybe we were gassed, maybe Foreman thought the QB could not throw it that far but a pass interference on the play is only 15 yards not a td.

Right! At least we're learning from our mistakes (hopefully) And winning at the same time!

WOW OP LOL. We were far from being in prevent.
But we SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN PREVENT. One mistake and they can score. Slip and fall, not fast enough to cover or just quit running and they score.
There's a reason coaches at all levels use prevent.

Not gassed. They were going for the ball instead of making the tackle. That happens when kids try to do too much. If they tackled the receivers the ball game is over. Instead they went for the pick 3 times and got burned for extra yards. Then the cover 2 gave up the TD.
If we'd played prevent none of this likely would've happened.
