Pretty disturbing.

If he was an athlete, there would no indecision, it would be UT.

I would send them to UT. If you've been a good parent and raised your children right, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Edit-meant to respond to midfielder

Vanderbilt had no sports receive academic sanctions this past week. Tennessee had 3. Tennessee has had 2 players kicked off the team for behavior, Vandy 0. Vanderbilt dominates UT in baseball and has for about the past 3 years. Vandy was about a foot away from beating us in Neyland again for the 2nd time in the last 3 years. We only split with them in basketball.

Which school would you send your kids to?
Please don't be so absurd as to try and compare the two athletic departments. Vandy just won it's first national title of any sort and it was in Women's bowling.

i'd let my kid go to Vandy in a heartbeat.

i'd only have problems with Alabama, Kentucky, Purdue, Ohio State, and Georgia.

Same thing that happend to my brother. Is a die hard UT fan but got enough money that he could go to Vandy for 5k a year, and couldn't pass it up. Wears orange in the student section though.
If you could get a stout ride like that one to Vandy, why not head to one of the real academic outfits in the South: Rice or Duke? Before Vandy, I'd send my kid off to UVA, UNC, W&M, Davidson, W&L etc.

The disturbing thing is that someone would base where they decide to send their kids to school on the athletic program. That's like picking one restaurant over the other one based on the parking lot.

The question at the end should have nothing to do with the statements above. Anybody who would base their decision on which school their kids should attend based on Ramar Smith smoking a joint should not be allowed to procreate.

by that I meant if your son was an athlete.

Still shouldn't, and doesn't, matter. When we start loosing football recruiting battles with Vandy, I'll start entertaining ideas as to why.

I would send my kid to Vandy to be a lawyer or doctor.

Go Dores!

Well I wouldn't be sending my kids to school to watch sports...I wouldn't base it on sports achievments thats for sure...I love UT and am a grad, HOWEVER, when it comes to education you just can't beat Vanderbilt...They are the harvard of the south...Yes they are expensive but damn the benefits are unmatched....They just normally suck at sports lol...Kinda like northwestern...I would leave it up to the kid and go over what he/she wants and what they want to become :eek:k:

There is no way to answer this without having a lot more questions answered. If your child a top notch player with the physical attributes that would assist him in succeeding at a top tier institution and possibly the NFL? If yes, send them to UT. Is your child a good player who has the physical attributes for him to get playing time at a mid level college team but does not have enough talent to go beyond that? I would focus on them going to a Vandy or trying to walk on at UT.

You are kidding, right? The only school you list that I would consider "better" than Vandy is Duke, and I think the main difference there is national recognition, not quality of education.

Furthermore the fact that we have fans even humoring the thought that Vandy may be a better option for their athlete kids is pretty disturbing to me.

The military has never ever lost a war!

Get your facts straight!

:eek:k:

Technically, they didnt accomplish the mission in Vietnam... but it was considered an Armed Conflict. Current Armed Conflict in IRAQ/AFGHANASTAN still pending.

seriously? Rice is the best school in the south and UVA, UNC, Davidson and W&L all have tougher entrance criteria (UVA and UNC for out of staters).
