Vanderbilt had no sports receive academic sanctions this past week. Tennessee had 3. Tennessee has had 2 players kicked off the team for behavior, Vandy 0. Vanderbilt dominates UT in baseball and has for about the past 3 years. Vandy was about a foot away from beating us in Neyland again for the 2nd time in the last 3 years. We only split with them in basketball.

Which school would you send your kids to?

Which would probably also have been the 2nd time in about 25 years.

UT has a wider diversity of majors. Example: Tennessee has one of the top geography departments in the South, including the current president of the AAG (the Association of American Geographers, the main professional organization in the discipline) on its faculty.

Vanderbilt has no geography department. There are other examples.

Vanderbilt is a great school, but it would be better to go to a bigger state school with a wider variety if you don't know what you want to study yet going in.

you're nuts.

Vandy has had a good baseball team for quite some time. As I had to tell you before, Tennessee is essentially starting over in baseball. And we're talking about the present here... In the past two years, Vandy is 0-2 against us in football.

However, depending on what my kid wanted to major in, I could see myself letting him go to Vandy in a heartbeat.

Vandy is a more prestigious school in general, but as IPorange pointed out there are certain things about UT academics that carry their weight around the country as well. I think if money were not an issue, and my kids actually wanted to go to Vandy, I'd send them to Vandy.

Same thing that happend to my brother. Is a die hard UT fan but got enough money that he could go to Vandy for 5k a year, and couldn't pass it up. Wears orange in the student section though.

If we are talking about an athlete, Tennessee easily. Vanderbilt can't compete with Tennessee's athletic track record. More resources, better facilities, and still a solid education. You must be a troll or something.

I would send my kid to Vandy to be a lawyer or doctor. Otherwise, it's UT or I'm not paying tuition.
