Preston Williams Updates?

Can you explain the difference?

I would think our injuries are directly attributable to playing freshmen before they've had a chance to develop in a college conditioning program. Oh, and to the fact they play football, which is a collision sport that often causes injuries.

The Big East version of the "no injury" incantations that coaches mutter during practice simply don't work in the SEC. The sooner Butch learns that, the better.

Our injuries will not decrease as long as we have this Big East coaching staff that doesn't understand how to run practices at the SEC level. How many years will it take for fans to realize these injuries have a lot to do with coaching?

So... the guy who had a season ending injury before he came to UT is hurt again, and itts the coaches fault?

He's reading from the troll catch phrase script. Surprised we didn't get a "Best coaching staff in America" sighting. :)

No it doesn't!!!!! It has to do with us having to play 17-18 year olds against 20-21 year olds who have had a couple of years in the weight room. And to make things worse, those 17-18 year olds have to play most of the snaps with lack of depth. It's getting better but not totally there yet. If you don't like the Vols, go somewhere else and cheer.

Who has been injured? And FTR, there are no 17 year olds on this roster.

Marcus Jackson- RS Sr
Curt Maggitt- RS Sr
Austin Sanders- RS So
Pig Howard was injured before getting the boot- Sr
Shy Tuttle- Fr
RD Abernathy- RS Sr
Rashaan Gaulden- So
Marquez North- Jr
Vincent Perry- Fr
Jason Croom- RS Jr

So there Mr "Great Fan"... it has NOTHING AT ALL to do with playing 18 year olds or those mythical 17 year olds you referenced. In fact, there are more guys on this list with at least 3 years in Jones' S&C program than there are true Fr.

BTW, if you don't like the Vols enough to inform yourself.... go somewhere else and cheer.

Well said. If the coaching staff does not know how to run practices to prevent injuries then the Ga staff is the worst in the USA since every great running back they have suffers a knee injury.

You DO understand that coaches CAN run practices in such a way as to still get the work in while avoiding injuries, right?

UGA has gotten theirs hurt in games. It happens. A few at every program will get hurt in practice. UT's practice injuries under Jones have been excessive.

See my list above.

Jones has taken tremendous pride in bragging about the pace of UT's practices and emphasized physicality. So basically they push pace until guys are exhausted and then they hurt joints or in contact drills. You can push someone so far that physical actions that would normally be no problem produce injuries.

This kid will be a special player...
Dobbs is a solid QB, but throwing isn't his mainstay. Dormandy however, will launch the ball around giving these Freshman guys their due there Junior and Senior years.

The most idiotic statement I've heard all day.

Barring injury Dormandy will not be starting this year and there's a 95% he will not be starting next year so let's nip this in the bud now.

This is just as baseless and speculative as the theory that we're getting injured because we're playing too many underclassmen. The reality is that football is a contact sport, and injuries sometimes just randomly happen. Ask Nick Chubb how exhausted he was when he blew out his knee on the first play of the game. Has anybody even established that Tennessee is suffering from an above-average number of injuries, much less an abnormally high amount?

Look at some of the videos put up on UT Football's Youtube channel about player nutrition, postgame recovery and sleep habits. Josh Dobbs is ordered to roll around campus on a Segway scooter for goodness sake. Butch & Co. are doing plenty to prevent injuries.

Some people just need to grouse for no reason.

At least 75% of those were hurt in game correct???

I just read that Jones thinks there is a good chance Williams will be practicing again tomorrow and hopes he will go Saturday. Nothing concrete it seems. But sounds optimistic.

YES. Just... YES.

So tired of people referring to 17 year olds on our team. I actually looked it up and the majority of our freshmen were actually 19 when they enrolled !

You are EIGHTEEN when you go to college.

I love all of the guys on here talking about how we have 17 year olds going up against 23 year olds. 6 year difference, there. LOL
