get espn news fellas
Ill admit I wanted fulmer gone more than anyone but after watching him near tears the whole time i cant help but feel sorry for him.
There is alot of division there. Rick Russo said when they tried to get the players to move for the media, players shouted "why should we move for them. They are the ones that started this B.S." (they did not use the initials). On WVLT Mark Packer has alot of former Vols on a panel including Reggie Coleman and Fuad Reveiz (sp?). They are pissed at the fans and MH saying they did Fulmer wrong. They even had Heath Shular on the phone and pressured him in to saying it was wrong (Heath didn't want to say it but they kept saying , tell us what you think). You can see Fulmer is not just dissapointed but he is pissed. The division is going to remain for a while it seems to me. I see the potential of a Johnny Majors type split.
the current players need to take a big long look in the mirror before they start blaming the media. If they want to say it's not CPF's coaching then that leaves only one other culprit. I know they love they guy but it's not all on the media
This is what seperated us from the rest of the SEC. This man loved this university. He gave his entire life to this university. I love Tennessee football, but it's not all about wins and losses. We could bring in a mercenary like Saban and win some games. But to me it's not just about winning, and no one we ever bring in will bring to the table the other stuff Philip Fulmer brought. Coach Fulmer exemplifies what made Tennessee a special place. I can't help but resent those people who probably don't even care about the school except for Saturdays in the fall are taking glee in the end of his tenure.
Michigan was special because it was Michigan, and it's coach was representative of that.
Nebraska was Nebraska because of those men who bled red and white.
Penn State is Penn State because of Joe Paterno.
None of those fan bases will ever be the same, and neither will we. No matter who we bring in he will view Tennessee as a job rather than a way of life. No matter how successful a new coach may be it will not be as sweet as what those Penn State fans are experiencing this year, and Joe Pa had some bad years himself.
