I heard this morning on the Sports Animal, that on Friday they may do like a mass hiring press conference. For instance, announce that several positions have been hired.

I don't think they would have a conference just for DCMK.

We shall see.

Confirmed.
[FONT=verdana, arial]"I'm so excited," Orgeron said via phone. "I get to coach with Monte [Kiffin] and I'm getting to recruit again. It's pedal to the metal and I can't wait to get up there." Orgeron came to his decision after spending the past few days in Destin, Fla., with his family and weighing his options which included an offer in a smiliar role at LSU or staying in New Orleans.

The 47-year-old Louisiana native had been intrgued by the chance to coach at LSU, a school he grew up rooting for. However he was ultimately swayed by the chance to work with new UT coach Lane Kiffin and his father, legendary defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin who also has relocated to Knoxville. Orgeron is expected to make $650,000, making him one of the nation's highest paid assistants.

Lol - so we're paying him basically the exact same amount LSU offered or close. Not bad. I figured they would of had to offer even more to get him out of his home state.

It's still steeper than I would have wanted, but since he is the DC in waiting and Monte will only be here for two years, I guess it's not a ridiculous number.

Ya when they supposively matched our offer I thought we lost him. He is smart though. He would rather work under a genius than Chavis. (sorry cheif)

The key statement is "I get to work with Monte [Kiffin]...". Now just imagine a top player seeing both of those guys at your front door. If "Big O" is excited what the heck is a player going to think....

Finally, some enthusiasm on the side line again! If Coach Kiff can get some recruiting under his belt, it looks like he aspires to build a Southern Cal type team in Knoxville. The only thing that kills us is weather! It will be hard to get those boys from Hawaii to come east. Phil did it once but it will be interesting to see. We have the things in place to build a dominate program. I think Coach Kiff takes us to the next level. Give Coach Fulmer his due, he did take it up a notch and had a great program in the 90's. Johnny Majors would have never won the National Championship at his almamater. I see Coach Kiff taking it up 2 or 3 notches
