President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

he did do something illegal - he had them in his possession - don't be a tool an act like that's not an issue

I never said they were the same - I was pointing out common complaints about Trump's situation that are in fact the same as Biden's yet you seem to conveniently ignore them.

if the possession of classified documents is a threat to national security then that is true in both cases

Biden did indeed possess said documents so he violated the law and should not be above the law

Not sure what's so hard to understand about that
Yep. Staging a political show sending the Feds into MarALago or quietly turning them in to try and avoid looking like a hypocrite (denied btw) is a difference without distinction. The act of possession is the issue.

I agree no one is above the law. If Biden did something illegal, investigate it and act accordingly. But don't be a tool and act like there are no differences between the two cases. When these were discovered, the national archives were notified and they were returned. In that respect, it's open and shut. That didn't exactly happen with Trump. And you know that. In fact, he may STILL be withholding classified docs.
One is a VP who should not of taken them and the other was a President who could under declassification.

He had classified documents and wasn't even POTUS. VP has no authority to declassify documents.

House Republicans will now vote on ABOLISHING the IRS and replacing a national income tax with a Consumption Tax - after voting to strip agency of Biden-backed $72 billion in funds for 87,000 new staff

The Republican-led House will vote on a bill to repeal the federal income tax and abolish the IRS altogether this Congress.

Georgia Republican Rep. Buddy Carter will bring forth the Fair Tax Act that he says would remove the need for an IRS entirely by simplifying the tax code. It would replace the national corporate and personal income tax and other taxes with a single consumption tax.

The bill also gets rid of the death, gift and payroll taxes.

It further calls for repealing the 16th Amendment - which gives Congress the right to lay and collect taxes on incomes.

Waste of time and money.

Yep. There are differences. The VP has ZERO power to declassify and possess documents under any condition, explanation, or excuse. Period. No amount of head turning can make it legal for him to possess one single sheet of classified docs when he was VP. POTUS' have the power to declassify and possess docs.

How it should have always been. Except they already do that on gas, tobacco, and alcohol, so they can't double dip. one consumption tax rate accross the board on all goods.

how could that possibly happen??? how could someone be so irresponsible??

There should always be a vault and a custodian for classified documents, and whoever checks out any document should be accountable to the custodian. I don't care if it's God himself, nobody outranks the keeper of the classified documents. If we are going to hold a military technician accountable for documents necessary to troubleshoot classified hardware, then we damn sure need to hold presidents or congress and their flunkies accountable for what may be even more sensitive documents. Screw up and you are gone; it's just that simple.

Yes but right now they can send every common sense bill they should have been trying to pass for years that actually would make real progress in cleaning up this bloated machine because they know the Dems will just kill it in the Senate .

Why should POTUS have the authority to declassify documents in the first place? If they were classified based on administration policy, that's a maybe since the president would apparently be the on setting or directing policy. If the documents were classified by an intelligence or military agency, then the president should have no right to declassify the document. Things classified by State are a middle ground, but I'd say the president should not have the sole authority to declassify those either. Any classified document may have been classified for tangential reasons that a president might not know without consulting the original classifying agency.

I don't think the president should have sole authority. But he should have authority. If that makes sense

Because POTUS is the chief executive and CIC. Anyone classifying a document works for the president.
