Over half have less than $20k in loans and 1/3 is under $10k. No one is struggling at those levels unless they're really making bad choices. The sob stories don't represent the true reality

There's no free lunch. Interest is paid when borrowing money and that's just how things work. Those, along with tuition costs, could be fixed with a real market that doesn't have repayment guaranteed by the fed govt. The govt has completely broken the system and now you're looking to them to fix it?

I have said multiple times I don't agree with the blanket forgiveness announced this week. Getting really old saying that over and over. I did posit a way to help people with loans while the Feds get their money back. And I can't reform the tuition model of universities.

those who owe pay it back. That's how the feds are repaid

You reform the loans first and the tuition comes back in line. The approved loan amounts get smaller when there's no repayment guarantee.

I would love to see what percentage of these low amt loans belong to losers who partied, skipped class, and failed out after a year or so.
