mentally incompetent covers way too broad of categorization for me to be comfortable with. especially when it comes to the state denying their rights.

if you want the distinction to be "dangerous" just say that.

otherwise you are giving the government WAYYYYYYY too much leeway to just call anyone mentally incompetent for whatever reason.

remember even on the "dangerous" side, during Covid the left wanted anyone without the vaccines locked away for being dangerous.

whatever you give the government is going to come around on you.

I agree 100%. What is mentally incompetent (term used by the person I replied to), I'm mentally incompetent to do quantum physics, you're mentally incompetent to understand soccer is for sissies. Should both of us be denied the right to own a firearm?

People that are (let's use a term we all understand) batchizz crazy and a danger to themselves and others as determined by qualified doctors should be institutionalized. Firearms or not they are a danger.

Both your opinions have merit.

Certain diagnosis codes for mental instability could be on the no firearm list. The addition or subtraction of the codes would need a congressional vote / SCOTUS ruling. We would need that gridlock of bureaucracy to protect our rights from being infringed.
