President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

This isn’t the flex you think it is.

Biden was an enemy of free speech and so is Trump.

It’s all the same only the names have changed. We have went from the left defending Biden’s attack on free speech to the right defending Trump’s attack on free speech.

Don’t be an an evil lawyer who defended everything that Biden did and cries like a baby when Trump does the same.

Call a spade a spade.

The blue tent can be set up anywhere on private property. I'm not familiar with any Trump attacks on free speech. I ask GROK to search Trump's many EOs if any have violated free speech.....
Grok reponded:
"No, Donald Trump has not issued any executive orders that obstruct freedom of speech. In fact, several of his executive orders in his second term (beginning January 20, 2025) explicitly aim to protect or restore free speech rights, particularly in response to perceived government overreach during the prior administration."

I see no comparison between removing a tent off of public gov't property and banning people from social media or banning people/businesses from having bank accounts.

We export ~$59 billion in medical devices, and import ~$69 billion.

The reason that we don't produce more generic drugs in this country and import them instead, is a business decision, not capability limitation.

And just a reminder, that Trump rescinded Biden's 2021 EO that attempted to incentivize more domestic pharmaceutical production for critical drugs.
there isn't a lot we "can't" do as a country. things we depend on need some basis in the US. Trump correctly, imo, identified a problem; but as usual went about "fixing" it in an ass-backwards way.

Well since Republicans are now all in on government forcing an ownership stake on private companies, what's stopping the Feds from grabbing 10% of every US pharmaceutical company with idle production, and telling them to make precursors and critical drugs?

not a whole lot. which is exactly why the Dems will go from complaining about it, to doing it themselves.

Ironic that you guys spent decades calling democrats 'communists' and 'socialists' only for Trump to make the biggest move away from a free market economy in US history.
speak for yourself white man. I called out Trump buying Intel. I said it was a dumb move all around, and there is no way Trump could actually make that a positive.

I would say its not the worst thing ever if its a one time cash infusion to get them some upgrade. governments gets a non voting share, and some buy back period of ten years.

otherwise this is just bad. I see very little, if any "win" here, with every option being cases of how bad are we, the American people, going to lose.

its even worse if this becomes a trend. government needs to stay out.

so I should be expecting a check from Intel this year, gotcha. I will need to let my CPA know about it.

Bigger than the US govt taking over GM, a share of ownership in Chrysler, AIG, CitiGroup and several others throughout history?

Which of those did the government strong arm into accepting the government taking an ownership stake in them?

Last I checked, AIG and CitiGroup repaid the government for their bailout loans, and the US sold off their bailout stake in GM and recouped the cost.

LOL and incorrect, no strong arming. Biden/Harris pledging Intel $8.5B and the Trump administration in support of the US taxpayers said if this is to occur something needs to be given back. Voila, 10% stake.

AIG and CitiGroup were strongarmed. Wells Fargo was strong armed into accepting "bailout money". And it doesn't matter if the govt eventually sold their shares, the US govt shouldn't be taking ownership stakes in private businesses.

Trump literally sent Intel's stock tanking by calling on the CEO to resign, and two weeks later demanded a 10% stake in their company because they accepted funding under the CHIPS act, which was backed by zero congressional authority to convert those grants into equity.

It's truly a trip to watch 'free-market fiscal conservatives' embrace government ownership in private sector companies.
